I’ve been thinking a lot about how different gameplay mechanics in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) affect experiences, especially when it comes to stress and engagement.

For example, do you feel more pressure with timed tasks like catching bugs for a limited-time event? Or do untimed activities like decorating your island feel more relaxing and engaging? I’d love to hear your thoughts and personal experiences with this! What aspects of the game keep you motivated or stress you out? Are there certain mechanics you wish were different?

I’ve been working on a small project for my AP Research class inspired by the Game Engagement Questionnaire (GEQ) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). It includes a short survey where players can share their thoughts on how timed vs. untimed tasks impact their gameplay. If you’re interested in contributing, you can check it out here: https://forms.gle/N9G4LEdgB5Aina2Z6

Why I made the survey:
  • I’m hoping to understand how we interact with different types of tasks in ACNH.
  • The results could highlight what makes gaming experiences more fun or stress-free for fans like us.
  • If you're curious, I’d be happy to share the overall results with anyone once the project wraps up!
Privacy Notice:
  • Responses are entirely anonymous, and you can use a nickname.
  • It doesn't matter what your age it's okay to fill it out nonetheless, no personal or sensitive information is collected or asked for.
  • Results will be used solely for research purposes, and I’m happy to share the findings if you’re interested.
Of course, this is totally optional, but even if you don’t take the survey, I’d love to hear your thoughts, also lmk any questions regarding the survey.
What do you think? What are your favorite and least favorite gameplay elements?
