What Did You Accomplish On Your Island Today?

Somewhat annoying for me as well. I needed the iron nuggets and got eggs. Needed the wood and got eggs. So I have been using flimsy tools the past couple of days.
I also found the Bunny's dialogue very confusing. He said to go collect eggs and bring them back to him. So I did but he had vanished. Someone on this forum explained he resurfaces on Sunday.
I think the whole Bunny concept could do with a rethink. A day of gathering eggs and be done with it.
I remember this happening to me when I first played the game years ago. Was not a fan of it lol. I’d be happy to play with you and give you what you need.

Atlas moth is one of my favs as well. After donating to Museum, I finally managed to get my 3rd last week and ordred a model. It's huge! Much taller than my character even. It's sitting in my yard right now and makes quite the statement. I've not seen a trantula yet. I see a scorpion now and then but have not succeeded in netting it. I watched a YT vid and it seems to call for advanced planning with hole digging. A bit too much a demand on me right now.

Did you have Grizzly before? The first I saw him was early March, as a wandering hotel guest. We connected. I was overjoyed to invite Grizzly to my campsite when Benedict said he was thinking about moving. Indoors, his home does look like a campsite in the beach, now that you mention it. The lot he took from Benedict is on the second level at the edge of a river fed by the waterfall and isolated a bit from Goose also on the second level but his home sits on a cliff edge leading down to the beach. Grizzly spends a lot of time on the first level fishing and wandering the plaza area. He tell me he now "knows more about the island" than I do! Blance's home is on the other side of the river from Grizzly. All of my villagers seem to get along.

I invited Molly to replace Bea maybe 4-5 weeks ago. I wish Bea was back as she was full of interesting chatter. But it was the first villager who said she wanted to travel and as her "bestie" I wanted to support that desire. Molly is pretty boring and sticks with the same laundry day speech.

Hazel makes for interesting conversation and I enjoy seeing the inside of Blanche's home. Reminds me of my years living in Japan.

Any suggestions for female villagers? I am more than ready to replace Audie or Molly and maybe Victoria when they want to move.

Well it's bunny day so I need to get moving and see what the game offers.
Scorpions can be caught like I did the tarantulas. Stop a safe distance away then get into the sneak position with your net. *Slowly move toward it and when it gets into a defensive position stop. When it settles back down move ever so slowly ahead again. Repeat from * until you're close enough to swing your net and capture it. It's a lot like catching the fast critters when diving--it just takes some patience.

I do not recall ever having Grizzly. I was really hoping for one of the big grouchy bears--the only other one I remember having was Curt, maybe in my WW game.

As far as recommendations go, I wouldn't have a clue because to my mind it's like a person either clicks with a villager or they don't. I just go with my whims. If I get a camper I like I'll reload without saving until I get them moved in. If someone moves out I go to the islands until I find someone who fits what I'm looking for then.

@UpFalls: Thanks for that! I think I can manage the sneak postition far better than digging holes to trap those darn scorpions so they can be netted.

I've had quite the busy day. I feel like I've been working double shifts for much of the week between the game and real life. I forgot about how the villagers are willing to trade things so towards the end I was able to get the sky, stone and water eggs I needed. Four of my six characters have completed the bunny challenge. I might try going for another one tonight or maybe wait until next year.
Flew to 4 islands to get enough stone eggs.

@BakaRina: thanks for your kind offer. Got through today with flimsy tools and come tomorrow will get my crafting items restocked by visiting a couple of islands if needed. I had not realized I would be given so many new DIYs that needed quite a few more sky, stone and water eggs today. Thankfully my earth and wood eggs could be traded for the sky and water eggs that I needed.
That said, a visit with you would be welcome. I will be back to sorting flowers which is easily interruptible. I am in Florida time zone (EDST) and play most afternoons (3-5pm) and evenings (8:30-10:30pm).

I made my little bamboo pond area! There are still some empty spaces where I'm not sure what to put, but I'm waiting for bushes and flowers to grow in to see how those look first.

Though, while making it, I realized I needed an extra tile of space at the bottom to add all the bamboo trees I wanted... which is fine for the bamboo side of the fenced-in area, but I can't move the fences down a tile on the orchard side because the corner is already right at the edge where the grass meets the beach. If I want both sides to be even, I'd have to move everything I just made north one tile... and both Caroline and Kabuki's houses, and a bridge, and a path spanning 3/4ths of the island from Caroline's house to resident services... T-T I should probably start moving one of the houses before I log off for the day.

I've used like 40 NMT trying to find a villager I like and have come up with nothing T-T I even found Cephalobot twice in a row earlier. At least I got some extra bamboo from some of the islands.

I know that whole thing of when it all lines up except for.... I've been there multiple times, and then I figure out how to fix it but it unaligns something somewhere else. Man, I don't think I could last a 40 NMT villager hunt.

My game ended up a couple of days ahead but I'll get it sorted out eventually. It was sure nice just to be able to do more normal type stuff. I harvested the coconuts and all the wood along the beach, gave gifts to all the villagers, and am trying to figure out where I want to put the all-gyroid band. I also was trying to fix up some places for stumps seeing as how I keep scaring away the bugs on them.

Seeing as how I have a bunch of cards that I've not yet learned because they need it, I thought it would be a good idea to go prospecting for gold but that was a bust: two Kapp'n islands and mostly rocks, although the second one had some money trees and carrots, as well as a bottle with a recipe for coconut oil. I got two more of the cherry blossom recipes today: the wand and sakura wood wall.

"If I get a camper I like I'll reload without saving until I get them moved in. If someone moves out I go to the islands until I find someone who fits what I'm looking for then."

@UpFalls
I have not tried TT. Is this what allows you to be able to reload without saving?
I don't see any button on my NS2 controller that allows me to reload. Nor any setting on the display screen.
How does a reload happen? Do you delete and redownload the game?
I am thinking mabe you are continuing to TT back a day until the villager gets moved in? But if you aren't saving, wouldn't it just be re-inviting that villager over and over?
My NS2 does an auto save every few minutes so maybe that auto save feature is something I need to turn off somehow?

In regards to finding someone on the island, I think I recall that on day 2 of a vacant lot, that Tom moved in a random character. But perhaps I am not remembering the process correctly. Will a lot stay vacant indefinitely until I decide who I want to move in?

I am realising this is a highly nuanced game for someone like me who didn't play the earlier versions over the years. I really appreciate all the information you give to me.

@SandiMacD Firstly, time travel is achieved by changing system settings on your Switch. (You definitely do not want to delete and redownload the game--that would erase your current town.) Reloading without saving is just not saving the progress since the last auto-save and is done by pressing the Home button then using X to close out the game, which returns you to the Home menu of the Switch. Otherwise to save and quit you're pressing the - button.

The way it works is that first, you have a camper at the campsite you'd like to move into your town. Start talking to them and if necessary playing their game to determine whether they'll move or not (no need to play the games for items, just refuse those). It can take a while to get them to agree but when they do they need to talk to Resident Services and if you have ten villagers they tell you they can't move in because there's no room for their house. Then they ask about possibly replacing someone else and you say yes and they suggest someone. If that is someone you WANT to move out you agree right then and there and the deal is done. If not (which is usually the case for me) press the Home button and then X to close the game. Then reload the game, talk to them again, and repeat the earlier process until you get the satisfactory response. If you really want that villager to move in do not leave that day until you succeed because once the next day loads that camper will be gone and never return to the campsite.

With an empty lot you're right--you are guaranteed the first day to go villager hunting, and some people extend that time by adjusting their system settings to that same day if they can't achieve their goal in one day. The lot may or may not be taken on the 2nd day but many people don't want to leave that up to chance.

I do like to cycle through villagers and looking down the list I had in my last save most of my best ones, if not true 'dreamies' definitely top tier on my list, were random campers.

Not too much, other than adding a couple of clothing items from my secondary island to my main. Managed to grab some shots of the two characters together too, to use for references for some roleplay characters!

@UpFalls
Wow! Lots of great information for me. It's a great help for sure. I can see now how to go about visiting islands for available villagers long enough to find a suitable replacement.

And I learned I am reloading daily going through the process you described without understanding what was meant by the word reload.

I had one camper last week I tried to invite. Since I have 10 villagers I was hopeful s/he would have replaced one of the 3 that I am tiring of. But no! The game selected Boomer to be replaced. And I definitely want to keep him so I said "Nope". I didn't have to reload at that point, it just played out saying there wasn't any available home for the camper (I forget who it was) to move into. I was a bit disappointed because I thought maybe I could pick from a list of potential villager move outs, but no.

I tend to enjoy the villager recycle process. Since I don't have any exposure to any of them, it doesn't bother me. If I get one I don't like and I don't interact with them, they seem to tell me they want to move out in a month or so.

I like getting their pictures. That was such a lovely addition to WW, then they took that feature out of CF and people really missed it. Then they brought it back in New Leaf and it worked differently from how it does in NH but it's something I really enjoy so I try to get a picture from every villager before I let them move.

You're welcome. There're always so many of these knit-picky things for a person to learn if you prefer to kinda tip the scales in your favor a little.

You do get to pick from a list of villagers with an Amiibo card but otherwise it's pure chance, so if you want to try it again just remember, do not finish the conversation because once you finish the dialogue the game will auto-save, so just close out the game then restart it. I always get nerved up thinking I'm going to mess it up somehow, and the other day I did with Kabuki but that's a different story all together and it really didn't matter since he was just someone different, definitely not in my top tier, maybe not even close.

Well, I've finally done it! I got enough points at the hotel and now I can purchase the Nintendo consoles to decorate my house with and/or play retro games in-game since I have a Nintendo Online membership! I ordered the Nintendo Switch 2, Famicom, Game Boy, Super Famicom and Super NES (NTSC version) thus far and I can't wait to get them tomorrow! Booyah!

I am so glad I joined this forum. I ordered all those consoles as well but didn't know I could actually play them in the game. That experience will need to be pushed down the pipeline. My head hurts with figuring out so much!

Also learned this week that if I put my music stage outdoors, the villagers will play my instruments. It's a good thing that I like designing and redesigning! 😆

Today I got the bunny stuff out of everyone's yard and worked on getting the correct amount of roses, cosmos and tulips. I managed to created one orange tulip so that's a success. Even though I planted multiple areas of red and yellow tulips, the others multiplied their own colors rather then doing the hybrid thing. I need a few more orange ones for my DYI.

Nothing in the stores I needed so spent the remaining time chopping wood and hitting rocks to get my inventory back up. Isabel announced the fishing tournament on Saturday but I ran into CJ today up on my third level. I have lots in storage so will hold off and sell them on Saturday. I terraformed a tad to reshape two of my lakes. Both were too big. I need more land and less water at this point. I am not thinking I will ever "finish" my island. I have way too much fun changing it up as my priorities shift when I learn something else I didn't know.

Calling it quits for tonight. I was up late with Bunny stuff yesterday so turning in to get a good night's sleep.

I harvested fruit and gifted oranges and used my apples to make a newly discovered wallpaper. I thought it would be a good day to do a vacation home for Tia so I took her to the island and created a cute tea shop. I also found Flip, who had moved out of my town before I had Happy Home Paradise and based on his wants for a spa decided he'd be good to room with Sandy so their spa got a second floor and a few odds and ends added. Then when I returned to the restaurant where I had picked up Flick I found a heretofore undiscovered ape named Boyd and he wanted a construction site with heavy machinery that he could 'safely' operate. I just had to do it! I picked a multi-level lot and set the equipment about and turned the house into the office.

That left me with barely enough time to go prospecting for gold (fruitless again) and after that I managed to shoot down one balloon which, of all things, had a gold nugget. (On one of the trips I grabbed another Atlas moth.)

Oh! And Nate showed up as a hotel visitor but there he was with no room so I made him a VIP room, for which I got 300 hotel points. I have over 8,000 of those now and have already bought a good lot of the stuff in grandma's catalog. It's not even like I work to get those things either, I just end up collecting more than I spend.

I finally got my basement added to my house! Even better than that, I now owe Tom Crook over 2 million bells, hooray! Sounds like I'll be spending the next week trying to get my hands on some money rather than working on my island.

Today, I helped out Kabuki, who was lost. I brought him to the hotel and designed a VIP Room for him. A Summer-Festival themed one to be exact. I think this theme for perfect for him! 🎆

And those items I ordered yesterday have arrived as expected and I ordered the rest of the consoles as well as Ultra Machine and Ultra Hand! The Love Tester will be the only Nintendo item left for me to buy once the others have arrived tomorrow! I made a spot in my bedroom to put whatever Nintendo console I want to play on. For now, I chose the Super Famicom.

ACNH Bedroom with Super Famicom.jpg

And yes, I did play Panel de Pon while I was at it. Great game of choice for the Super Famicom, by the way! Reminds me of when they added that Animal Crossing Puzzle League mini-game based on this game in New Leaf that also let you unlock clothing that basically allowed you to play as Lip in Animal Crossing, including her Flower Rod, or as many people know it as thanks to Super Smash Bros, Lip's Stick. I played and beat VS mode on Hard. It took me 49 continues to do it!

ACNH Panel de Pon VS Mode Hard Continues Used.jpg

Man, if Hard was this tough, I can only imagine how I'll fare on Super Hard when I'm ready to try that out. But I had fun and I've definitely improved my combo and chain skills!

ACNH Panel de Pon Ending Screenshot.jpg

And that's all for now! I'll definitely have to work on my island some more later on once I'm ready to continue. I'll help out other lost tourists in the meantime. I love helping others out and it'll also get me closer to completing the Nook Miles goals too!

I just wrapped up an 18 min chase of the elusive Venus flower while diving. Everytime I got it near to the net corner it turned on me and escaped.
I found Walker in need of a hotel room for the night and fixed him up with a VIP room.
I got the 2 lobby mannequins changed into outrageous hats. It's a switch from my well put together outfits. It's laughable to see them parading about with swirls, cherry hats, cat or bunny noses, etc. so I may stay with the ludicrous looks for a bit.
Got all my chops in and flowers picked and hot items done. RB payed off the last of his extra storage today. I have one character left that needs to complete his last storage updrade.
Its been pouring down rain nearly every day for a week (Except on Bunny Day). Been nice for the flowers. Still no red tulips to buy but some multiplied so I am up to 3 now and working towards getting 9. Plenty of the other colours.

Yikes. Congratulations on catching the little rascal. I quit trying to get them into a corner, and instead just hover over them until they decide they aren't being chased. You know how you can go into overhead view? Try that, and push whichever one of those buttons it is, not the one that makes you swim but the one that just pushes you along, until you're pretty much over top then dive. Once in a while I have a little trouble but it's a whole lot easier catching the fast ones that way.

I also like dressing the hotel visitors up in the ridiculous stuff that comes into my catalog--makes it good for something at least. Or I can use all those uniforms and have days of various conventions.

I didn't do much today, mostly worked up on fixing areas between my fruit trees so that when the fruit drops it's in a straight row in front of the trees, not beside the trunks. I thought about redoing one of the hotel rooms and was too lazy. I caught a few fish, dug a few clams and not much else. I did get the diy card for the cherry blossom rock pond so I have only the rug, tree wall, and wood flooring left.

When it comes to that hotel, one thing I really do not like is the concept of a VIP room you spend who knows how much time decorating just to have it be gone the next day. To me that seems like a waste.

Today I added a merry-go-round to my amusement park. I also decided to turn my basement into an underground casino, after seeing a post someone made somewhere of them making their own casino. I can only buy up to 5 slot machines a day, so it's gonna be a while. I also understand that Nintendo may not like this so if anyone asks, it's an arcade, not a casino. Other than that, I didn't really play much today.

Today, I found Claude without a place to stay and promptly brought him to the hotel. I designed an Arcade themed VIP Room similar to the home he requested me to make in the Happy Home Paradise DLC. Game on! 🎮🕹️

I also did some more work on my little park area I recently started on. Specifically, I finally put down some tiling and added more items to the park as well! I also created a path that leads to the park from the entrance lined with stalls offering free items to visitors.

But right before I did that, I got quite the pleasant surprise. I stumbled across Elvis, a former villager of my island who was visiting as a tourist! And even better, when I spoke to him, he remembered me! Good to know past villagers don't forget about you. That was a sweet little moment right there.

Today I continued to work on the casino in my basement, adding more slot machines and some stools to sit on with them. I did some vacation homes, one for Shep and another for Queenie. I gave some daily gifts to villagers. Still trying to get some inspiration for my next project.
