Do you google everything, or trust what people tell you?

I think there is fun in trying to figure out an answer to a question you have, especially with other people. After the fact we'll Google it and see how far off we were from the truth. When it's an option, I like to whip out the dictionary or atlas that I've picked up from the used book store to find the answer... Friction is sometimes very nice. I've also turned off the AI overview on Google which has been life changing.

... but when it comes to technical problems: Google. Google above all. I am not going to try to fix the dishwasher or the 3D printer without the help of some random guy on YouTube.

Personally, I mix both together. I listen to people I trust, but Google hasn't steered me too wrong either (though I prefer using DuckDuckGo as my main search engine most of the time due to the privacy protection). And yes, Google AI, like a lot of AI helpers, can be a crapshoot at times, so I'm discerning whenever I look at it. Clicking on the websites it drew information from also helps me decide whether it's being trustworthy or not.

If I care enough about the topic, I will research it to make sure that I am accurate in what I am telling people. However, my irl friend was one to believe most anything she read on facebook, which was full of a bunch of ridiculous information. So, I had to utilize search engines a lot. AI answers are annoying, but it's not that hard to find the real information. I hardly take anyone's word for anything, unless they're a professional.
