What are your experiences with scammers?

I haven't been scammed, but I traded Nook Miles Furniture for different colors and you won't really know if it's the right item until you're home.

I can't even count the number of trades and deals I've done on TBT, and I've never once been scammed. I was very active during New Leaf because my son quit playing. I turned his village into a villager factory - time-traveling, finding the popular villagers, and auctioning them here on TBT, then using the bells to develop my personal village on my 3DS. I was very active. And I'm still pretty active with New Horizons.

Not once. Never. I love TBT. The community is generous and kind and honest.

I have not really been scammed before.

However, one time, I was hosting a DIY Recipe. I hosted a private island on Turnip Exchange, with the link only posted on this forum. The topic made it clear that the villager's house was right next to the Airport, and people were clearly lining up for it in town. One person showed up, ignored the line, and just went to wander my island. When I told them that the villager's house was by the airport, they did not respond, so I went to track them down. I eventually found them shaking my fruit trees. They picked a whole bunch of my fruit trees clean, as well as plucking several of the hybrids that I was trying to breed. They acted like they did not realize that they did anything wrong, and left without visiting the crafting villager.
Oh my gosh, did you give them neg feed? So sorry to hear that, honestly that sounds so stupid no offense to the person.

Or they can take offense idc

They just followed the Turnip Exchange link and did not post in the thread, so I am not sure who it was. They had a long username that started with M, though.

They did not cause any long-term damage, so it does not really bother me too much. It was just kind of annoying. Because I don't TT, I had to wait for everythings to grow back.

Fortunately, out of the many, many, many people I’ve had over to my island, I’ve only ever had one negative experience.

I have a swap shop by my airport with a few items in. Not many, 4 furniture, 2 clothes and 2 wallpaper / flooring. It’s not expensive or rare stuff. Just a little something that people can use if they like.

I had my gates open the other day cause Celeste and Leif were over. I fenced off my town hall and path there and set up a queue on the turnip exchange. I left my switch idle whilst I watched some tv and basically trusted people to visit and sort themselves out. I didn’t charge an entry fee because I was just trying to help people out and having my switch in idle whilst I watched TV didn’t really effect me at all.

I’m really happy to say that 99% of the people that visited that night were extremely polite, respectful and kind! This experience has in no way clouded my opinion of online play because the vast majority of people are lovely!

But I did have one person steal all of the items from the swap shop. I’m not sure who it was, as like I said I wasn’t watching my switch at the time so didn’t realise until everybody had already been and gone.

The thing that irritates me more is the spite of it. The items weren’t expensive or rare. I doubt they would have gotten even 10k from selling them all. They not only took advantage of the kindness of allowing someone to visit their island for free. But they also took away the opportunity for anybody else to use the swap shop that night.

This experience won’t stop me from having people over or even having people over when I’m not watching the switch. But unfortunately now, if I’m not watching the switch, the Swap Shop and free fruit stand will be shut to be sure people don’t take advantage of it. :(
That really suck and i hope it dose not happen again.
