So far Uglies is actually pretty good.
I'm only reading it because one of my friends said it's one of the best books she has ever read.
Twilight is about love between a vampire and a girl.
I was about to bring what Mino said back up, but it would just get deleted.
I recall reading the "Uglies" series. Eh....to me it was nonsense about being fine with who you are. If I want my science fiction fix, I'll go read or watch something better.
Those are both "girls books", which, despite being a girl, I found boring. Maybe part of it was my cynicism about romantic books. (They either don't catch my intrest....or...I find them too sappy. Maybe it's because I can't exactly relate to the situation...yeah. That's pretty much it.) Actually, the "romantic stories" I like are either tragic (Princess Tutu), or barely even a romance at all...not from the "LOL kissing and hot stuff like that" standpoint. Y'know what. I like the "pure of heart" relationships in fairy tales, and my personal favorite, the tale of "affection" in Ghost in the Shell 2nd Gig. (See the quotes in my sig for details)
I guess I have weird tastes, because as whenever I read something, and it turns to sex, (or extremely hot lack thereof, as in Twilight) its status goes down in my mind. But let's not get into that.
Unresolved romantic tension and pure-of-heart relationships FTW.
...This was extremely awkward to write. >_<
I really like the 'classical' love stories from the Shakespearean era... romantic, noble, subtle, yet enjoyable.
Nah, it's not a joke. It's just Snoop. Then again, he's a joke himself, so...Gengar said:I really hope that was some type of joke.Snoopdogga said:Normal people don't read those types of books.Bulerias said:Totally agree with you on romantic novels... oftentimes they drift into sexual territory, and though some sexual tension between characters is necessary, it goes beyond that most of the time.Triforce3force said:...I actually read the Twilight series. And, Shadow, I've read to Kill A Mockinbird. Not even comparable with Les Miserables, I guess it wasn't so bad though. A bit dull, but definately classic.
If there were a correct time to quote Family Guy, it would be now.Bulerias said:Nah, it's not a joke. It's just Snoop. I agree, the Inheritance series is an awesome series. The first book was great, and the second book was even better. I don't think I will be able to wait until September, when Brisingr comes out. To be honest, in my opinion, the Inheritance series is a lot better than the Harry Potter series (and I've read all 7 books). Harry Potter was just...too kidlike. But, Inheritance it just seems like a more mature story.JJH0369 said:I actually think the Inheritance Trilogy (Eragon, Eldest) by Christopher Paolini is pretty good. Eldest is one of my favorite books. (No, I did not see Eragon the movie. I heard it ruined the book.)
As for younger readers/people to lazy to read a 650 page book, I recall really liking the Charlie Bones series back in fifth or sixth grade...
I like how your addressing how your opinion is better then Koehler's and then criticizing us about how we think our opinions our better. But also, isn't that the whole point of an opinion? Of course your going to think yours is better, it is yours after all.Super_Naruto said:I agree, the Inheritance series is an awesome series. @Koehler: Don't even make me rant on wrong you are, and why the hell would you mix Lord of the Rings and Star Wars to get Inheritance. Obviously you're way too stubborn to actually read the books (watch movies) and understand the series. I know everything about all 6 Star Wars movies, everything about the 2 Inheritance books, and I pretty much know everything about the 3 Lord of the Rings movies. And in no way does LoTR + Star Wars = Inheritance.
First of all, the only similarity between LoTR and Inheritance is that it is set in an age of Dragons, Elves, Dwarves, etc. The 2 are so different, they aren't even comparable. And Star Wars does not match either of them. The only reason I feel you put Star Wars into your quote was because you were acknowledging it and the rest of those series on how amazing they are. Those 3 series, in my opinion, are all in the top 5 stories of all time.
@The rest of you: I love how you can't accept the fact that someone can have an opinion and that your opinion isn't a fact. We're discussing opinions, and I doubt that any of you, including me, can determine, for a fact, what the best series of all time is. Also, I just bolded the "in my opinion" parts of my rant beacuse it's my opinion, not a fact, and I don't think it's a fact. I'm throwing my opinion out there.
And, just to throw this out there, Shakespeare is outdated and just a bunch of trash.
It doesn't matter what Koehler based his opinion on, its still his opinion an you completely disregarded it. You have no idea how completely ignorant you sound. Plays don't count on Shakespeare "experiences." Shakespeare was a genius, how dare you call his work a bunch of garbage. He has sold millions even after hes been dead. Hes done more then you could ever possibly accomplish.Super_Naruto said:I'm sorry, but Koehler's opinion was trash. He had nothing behind his opinion. Ah, and once again your assumptions take over. I have based my opinion on Shakespeare from my Shakespeare experiences. Now tell me why Koehler's opinion was an acceptable or reasonable opinion for this discussion.
Like I said before its the principle that counts. You came and lectured us about flaming people and then you call Koehler's opinion *CEN-2.0-SORD*. You should just leave. Your worse then Snoop. Who cares if I don't know about the series, and how is it sad that i haven't read it? Were not even talking about the series right now. Its an opinion, respect it and you might receive respect back.Super_Naruto said:How dare you accept Koehler's opinion. It was literally *CEN-2.0-SORD*. "LoTR + Star Wars = Inheritance" That is complete *CEN-2.6-SORD*. Anyone even a 10 year old would be able to realize how wrong that is. And stay out of this, obviously you know nothing about those series, which is sad.
WE AREN'T EVEN TALKING ABOUT YOU AND YOUR ******** SERIES! The only one that is truly brilliant would be the LOTR. If so many people here have said they hated it, its clearly not "brilliant." Snoop was just putting one sentence post like 4 times in a row like usual. And am I the only one saying how stupid Snoops post are? NO! Please your post are just as bad as Snoops, please read them before you add it.Super_Naruto said:Because Star Wars, LoTR, and Inheritance are brilliant series. Also, let Snoop have his opinions just as you have let Koehler have his. Cleary, if you had any sense of what's right or ethics you would realize that you must be ******** to argue about something you have no prior knowledge about.
Yes, how DARE he accept the opinion of someone he met over the internet... the very thought is distressing!!!Super_Naruto said:How dare you accept Koehler's opinion. It was literally *CEN-2.0-SORD*. Also, why are you being hypocritical as well. You are disregarding my opinion and didn't you just put up a case on how bad I am for disregarding Koehler's?
^_^;;Super_Naruto said:Please calm those capitals down. This is an internet forum. Actually the sub-discussion that I continued was about "MY ******** STORIES". Until you went into a totally different topic. Also, I like how you base your opinions on other people's opinions on a topic that you know nothing about. Read/watch some stories/movies first, then come back here and you can PM me saying how much you hated it. Wait a second, I thought you said you didn't care how stupid a post was, you accepted Koehler's, but now you're saying you don't accept Snoops. That's so prejudice it's not even funny. Seriously, come back when you stop being prejudice and learn about those stories. Or at least stay out of a discussion that you know nothing about, that's smart too.
*CEN-3.0-SORD* the banhammer, I can't stand this kid. You want to make a stab at my name that I am when I was 10? How about I make fun of the one you made when you were 13.Super_Naruto said:Because Star Wars, LoTR, and Inheritance are brilliant series.
