Or he exaggerated.
42 is an awfully precise number.
Not really.

Actually, not at all.
Alrighty, then. So we can agree that it was some random number he pulled out of his butt.

...Hence, a lie. No other way around it. An exaggeration is basically a lie.
No. That's not even close to anything I said. An exaggeration is an overstatement. Not a lie.

It's not even a synonym to "lie"
OK, fine. It's a half-truth... since it's true that he read some books, but obviously not as many as he said.

A half-truth is a lie. End.
No. An exaggeration is not a lie.

This isn't rocket science Bul.

Exaggeration => half-truth => can be equated with "lie".

This isn't rocket science, Prop.

No, but they are in the same category, which is, not telling the truth. [/quote]
What kind of logic is that?

Just because something isn't true doesn't mean it is a lie.

A lie is a deliberate act of not telling the truth. If you don't know any better, and believe what you're saying is true you aren't lying.

*CEN-3.0-SORD*ing simple English.

You're logic needs some work.

Aren't you the clever one.

"You're" grammar needs some work.

"A lie is a deliberate act of not telling the truth. If you don't know any better, and believe what you're saying is true you aren't lying. "

Yeah, thing is, he obviously and deliberately stretched the truth. Hence making it a lie.

How do TBTers post 10 pages about books?
Better than a topic asking what your favorite flavor of ice cream is.

;)
That thread was extremely important to the processes of my everyday life.

And the answer is mint. Mint chocolate chip.

The most foolish thing to do in an argument is to complain about grammar.

Really, you can read his mind? O.O

That post was also made for simply stating how a lie is not the absence of the truth. Nothing to do with Snoop.

Also, a lie is still not a stretching of truth. >_<

The most foolish thing to do in an argument is focus on COMPLETELY irrelevant things. FACT: He didn't read 42 books last month. That is all I'm trying to establish.

Cool.

All I'm trying to establish is that is not a lie as you said but possibly an exaggeration.

I've always enjoyed reading the Artemis Fowl series and Star Wars novels. I also enjoyed some of the books I was forced to read in school, like To Kill A Mockingbird. Most of the time, I read during school.

Lies and exaggerations are both forms of deception, if it will stop the pointless lie/exaggeration argument.
