Has anyone noticed any villagers have become more popular in New Horizons than they were in New Leaf. Personally I feel that Katt, Merry and Bianca have all become a lot more popular. I see a lot more people looking for and asking for them now than I ever did in New Leaf.
Sorry for bringing the topic in the opposite direction, but I recall pietro being very popular in new leaf.. In new horizons, I see people calling him an ugly villager and stuff? What happened there lol.
I think Merry might’ve gotten boosted because of that one peppy dialogue that mentions a comic where a princess is in love with another princess, every peppy can say it but someone saw Merry say it first and that got spread along to people who aren’t familiar with how villager dialogue in AC works and everyone wanted Merry all of a sudden—which is valid because hey, she’s adorable tbh! Idk any other specific examples though, my memory is very bad. But I think a lot of villagers in general just look better than ever before with the new renders/graphics and the way they can finally wear actual shirts with sleeves and dresses and such, so I bet that’d be part of why this happens.

I think that’s at least partially because of the general dislike of shirts on sheep, I noticed Muffy falling too and she was also one of the more popular sheep before. Even when I saw Pietro on a mystery island and showed him to my dad (whose first game is NH) and then showed him how Pietro used to look with his scarf in NL he said “wait, do all the sheep in this game wear those shirts instead of scarves now? oh, they made a mistake there” so yeah I think sheep as a whole are less popular now, not just Pietro. Which is a bit of a shame because even if I preferred them before, I do still love the sheep and also Pietro!
Definitely Merry. Otherwise it does kind of feel like it's more or less the same villagers who are popular as in New Leaf days (at least when I played).
I don't remember Coco ever being this popular, she was fairly liked in NL but I don't think she was ever tier 1! I do think her new clothes helped, she looks so cute in them ;_;
I see more people talking about Hazel, Bill and Merry, Apple also gets a bit more attention. Roald seems to have a huge fanbase now, at least at twitter and Reddit I see lots of people talking about him.
yes... in fact probably even more popular because octopi are rare, and it's just easier to acquire her now so more people are talking about her than ever

I'm kinda surprised to know people are finally respecting Roald, to be honest. As someone who's a fan of simpler designs, Roald is probably my favorite penguin just because of that.
I like most of the ostriches as they like their designs a lot, even if they are far more detailed than what I normally like.
People are sleeping on Felicity tho, just saying. She's by far one of the best cats in the game, and I say this knowing that cats are the species with the biggest number of villagers. Really can't see how Tangy and Rosie are more popular than her (Rosie at least has been featured often in marketing campaigns and other stuff, but I don't get the Tangy hype, and I have her in NL).

Just saw a YouTuber the other day who wasted lots of NMT to find Bill on Mystery Islands and freaked out of happiness when he finally found him. Compare to New Leaf, there are more people talking about Bill and even call him their favorite (which is nice, 'cause Bill is adorable).
I’m so happy for Merry and her stupid face!!! She’s so cute I wanna punch her every time I see her. She makes me feel the same way I feel about Rudy and his dopey smiley face. I wanna just punch them both then hug them real tight.
