You can give them fruit too. They won't display them in their house. I use coconuts.

me and the boys trying to avoid making our villagers display things that dont fit them while still loving them

That's good, I really want to gift them something other than fruit or wall hanging items but I want to keep them original at the same time. I already feel so bad every time they ask to buy fish or some furniture/clothes from me and i say no

fruit wrapped up... noting this for when summer ends there was another comment ab it, i gave fruit for scoot's birthday so that seemed to work

Gifting them the workbenches is another way since they don’t put out gifted workbenches, or at least they haven’t for me yet. I got photos from my villagers even though all I gave them were workbenches.

It may seem to be a waste of mats but there are times when there is nothing i want to make when i have the nook mile quest to craft three things. I honestly don’t mind using my mats.
