Alright confirmed it with my sisters that it is indeed random but none the less concerning. Ill update opThey don't have a pattern, they have set percentages that are set once the Bells are planted. 30% of the time, you'll get what you planted. The other 70% you'll get 10,000 if you planted more than 10,000.
Misinformation being spread and I apologize for being apart of it. It's as Khaelis mentioned and it has to do with percentages. Although, I wouldn't say it's any less concerning/dangerous as my sisters made around 4m each in just a couple hoursI tried testing this "trick" and it didn't work. I got 5 consecutive days of only 10k followed by 11k followed by another 10k day. I highly doubt the "pattern" is that long.

Are you sure they made the bells doing the money tree and not something else like turnips or collecting interest? That would be some extreme luck if they really made 4m off the money trees. Or maybe the pattern was a thing and got patched out in an update.Misinformation being spread and I apologize for being apart of it. It's as Khaelis mentioned and it has to do with percentages. Nope money trees alone. My younger sister had been doing it a couple of times through the week and made around 2-3m and my older sister started today and made around 3-4m after a couple of hours of learning about itAre you sure they made the bells doing the money tree and not something else like turnips or collecting interest? yep and that's not even considering some added luck and being able to make even more. Ill have to inform them on the 10k methods so they can earn their bells faster.I just watched the video debunking the myth and it said you have an expected profit of 4.185m if you plant 99k every day for a year, so I guess the 4m actually makes sense in that context. That doesn't mean every tree they planted actually returned 3 99k bags. However, you're guaranteed to make 7.3m bells just doing 10k every day for a year, so they probably could have made 4m faster just doing 10k at a time.
Great video! I don't know why I keep listening to that tagbackTV guy! He makes lie videos left and right xDIf I recall, there's a video I watched that explains it very well.
Section on money trees begins at 7 minutes, 33 seconds.
Yeah agreed and that's what use devs call exploiting. ("gaming the system" works to if that's how you wanna say it) I use the term cheat as referring more towards the act of getting ahead of the rest of the players in terms of wealth but I understand what you're sayingWhenever cheating comes up in relation to TT people get all up in arms because it becomes this semantic discussion about what cheating means. If I use a different term, like “gaming the system”, it sounds much less inflammatory despite meaning the exact same thing.
What you describe—somebody specifically using TT to plant and harvest more money trees—is definitely gaming the system. Just like TTing to a Sunday to buy more turnips before visiting somebody with a high sale price is. The wait times are supposed to be part of the game. The risk in investing in turnips is supposed to be part of the game. If you bypass those intended challenges, you are gaming the system.
10k each time is a constant 20k profit and that's not including alt accounts. How much does interest earn you? You can just do both at the same time. Also that only makes me even more concerned about TTing and dirty money ughhIf you want to TT to earn bells, it'd be much less risky to just put bells into the ABD and TT for the interest.

Holy cow that's a ton of bells! This is why the market is going to Hell rnIt's .5%, up to a maximum of 99,999 for the one month. But you can just keep TTing to get it over and over again.

I agree 100% I'm just not that kind with my wording. Non-TTers only talking about TTers being the end of the world need to stop and be more honest and TTers need to be honest about ALL of the many benefits of TTingI don’t inherently disagree with your word choice, because all those terms really do come down to the same thing. “Cheating” and “exploit” just have inherent negative connotations that most people can’t reconcile with their playstyle, sense of self etc.
(Sorry, this is getting in way deeper than necessary for this thread. I’m just frustrated that the AC community can’t seem to have open and honest discussions on the subject. Some TTers insisting that they don’t game the system bothers me more than the benefits they get from TT)

I just love the fact that this issue is never brought up or even mentioned when discussing TTing. TTing is only for the impatient? whatever
Yeah but the TTing exploits like the ones mention above are definitely part of it (even if it's a smaller contribution) We'd still be seeing the same exact problem even if duping and NMT wasn't a thing, but only on a smaller scaleNaw, stuff like that isn't the reason the market section is in chaos. The issue was when the game released, a duplication glitch was quickly found that let a single person duplicate place-able furniture-like items infinitely. People also found out the ACNH Nintendo Switch item sold for about 14,000 Bells and would duplicate that and resell it for a lot of money. Then people duplicated the crown item, which sells for 300,000 Bells each.
Then people started buying Nook Miles Tickets for absurd amount of Bells since they're essential in finding villagers somewhat reliably. Now the market is in chaos.
Fun, huh?
