TTing and the daily chores

Well, I always see that quote as saying that it's not really cheating because in all honesty it isn't but they do strongly urge people to play as intended. I don't really mind when people bring up that quote because there's a lot of truth to it for both sides of the coin.

This quote?

”We think that in order for the players to play for a very long time, and also for players to share the experience with their friends or family, we do think that playing without traveling would probably be the ideal way,”

I think that quote is very much up to interpretation and personal bias.
To me it sounds like very careful, diplomatic wording. Nintendo doesn’t need to take a strong stance on the issue, so why would they risk alienating/upsetting a good chunk of their customers? It’s also possible that they themselves don’t care (or know) that much about it’s effect on the community, and therefore don’t have a strong opinion. In that case, whether they do or don’t consider it cheating is almost irrelevant to us as the players.

Time Traveling is also not cheating nor an exploit. If Nintendo really didn't want time traveling they would prevent people from changing the time time significantly after it has been set.
That's a system problem and not an Animal Crossing problem. Besides that, that doesn't solve TTing and only hurts people that need to change their time but accidentally enter the wrong info

I dunno, it's really hard to care about what other people are doing with their game. The concern over this kind of reminds me of fundamentalist folks freaking out over other people in same-sex relationships, or premarital physical relationships. Kinda insane to me to even waste time thinking about it.

Id leave out parts about TTing overlords but I gotta say that you and I have about the same opinion on the subject. Although I will NEVER TT ever
I wish I didn't have to TT to enjoy the game, but unfortunately I do. You have a lot more courage, self-control, or time (not implying you do cause i don't know that) than me. I can appreciate that, but I definitely wouldn't act better than someone who does or doesn't TT (again, not saying you're doing that just saying in general lol)

Hundred percent agreed. Even TT overlords, just let them be. You're not gonna change anyone's opinion and in reality it doesn't affect you. Refuse to pay a high price, if enough people do it then the prices for items will drop. Most people accept the price being offered, it's okay to haggle. That's what selling threads are for ^-^

Im not "freaking out" over TTing in general, I'm concerned about some bad people with the tools to do bad things

I've already seen people who put their birthday in backwards, selected the wrong town, and regret their name and island name, Nintendo has no scruples about letting them deal with their mistake. Animal Crossing and Time Traveling are at this point inseparable, it has been 20 years and it is still in the game.

Play the game how you enjoy it, without judging other people for how they play.

Funny considering that guy spread every single one of those myths prior to making the video.

Money Trees are such an insignificant amount of money gained that I don't even bother half the time AND I time travel a lot.

Time Traveling is also not cheating nor an exploit. If Nintendo really didn't want time traveling they would prevent people from changing the time time significantly after it has been set. They don't because they are well aware a good portion of players time travel and it is in their best interest to be neutral about it.

You know what is worse than time travelers not thinking they gain an advantage? Sanctimonious purist that constantly complain about time travelers.

And? He at the very least made a video correcting it and spreading correct info. Don't need to indirectly go after him about it by bringing such small information to light.

There's going to be bad players affecting games, no matter if its AC or something competitive. Its like the saying ignore the trolls, if you don't accept their ridiculous prices and report hackers, then you can do your part on making the community less chaotic. It'll suck for awhile, but things will change. Its happened on NL, its gonna happen on here. TT is just an agree to disagree discussion, just like most controversial topics. Just do what you think is right

That's an ok point but at the same time doesn't apply to the system settings on the console. Mistakes in a game are minor compared to the console as a whole. Wouldnt be insanely bad but would definitely cause an uproar. The only real fix is making the game sync with online like other online games but that ain't gonna happen.

I don't want to come off as judging but honestly, I do. I DONT CARE IF YOU TT! I just don't want it affecting me someway or other

Unfortunately, its always going to be a problem. Has been for decades, but also I'm glad you can be open minded about the other side. It's nice since most traditional players are rude to TTers. I have never experienced it, but I definitely have seen it on other forums

Edit: I mean, it is always going to affect you, but it will get better as time moves on, as long as you stick to your guns and not pay ridiculous prices on items or services.

Yeah, I fall victim of letting my "outrage" spill out on the forums. Personally think we can discuss this in a civilized manner

The reason I think Nintendo doesn't consider it as cheating is because they haven't done anything about it. They could have implemented something to force you to play in synced time while online or visiting other towns at least. There's basically no punishment for time travelling, even less than in other games in fact where you could lose villagers as a result.

I understand where you’re coming from, but personally can’t see that as evidence of them not considering it cheating.

Forcing people to be online consistently would lock out a bunch of people from playing the game, thereby losing them sales.
Then there’s what I said in a different post, about them just not caring enough to prevent it. Think about regular board games—just because the game itself can’t prevent and doesn’t punish you for going against the rules doesn’t mean it isn’t cheating. Just because I don’t stop a kid from cheating at monopoly doesn’t mean they’re not cheating. Just that it’s not worth it for me to get involved / spend effort on.

It's been 0 days since the last TT discussion thread.

As a TTer myself, money trees are a waste of time because of the RNG aspects. Bruh I can earn more money by cycling villagers under 30mins-4 hours or do turnip runs than waste my time gambling over money trees that can yield me trash results. (Also tarantula runs are even more lucrative than this and that's a legal one.)

It's not exploitable lmao.

By definition, TTing is an exploit but Im gonna stay far away from that topic. I think this is the first legit somewhat against TTing thread made. Could be horribly wrong tho
