Some have said that's hard to buy/sell here so we might do this:

Make it a rule that people clarify Buying/Selling/Auctioning in the topic title.

Split the board with 4 subforums:

Funitrue / Wallpaper / Carpet
Clothes and Accessories
Rare Items
Services
Misc.

Suggestions?

That is a really good idea! But would the topics that are already up be deleted if this was done?

Or apply a "Use Tags" rule. You can have people put in the BEGINNING of their TOPIC TITLE something like [Selling - Furni] or [Buying - Clothes] or [Auction - Rare].

In my personal opinion, it's better to use Tags than to create more Child Sections.

I think tags might not be possible for members. (with ZB at least)

You can't apply them manually? For example, if I post a thread, I'd have the title as "[Service] Mickey's Lending Tree". You don't need to code in anything or whatever, just post a sticky telling people to use the Tag System.

Adding more and more sections makes the board too big and may even cause more chaos than order.

Well if we had no new boards would we really need those since it's pretty obvious

Example [Buying Shirt] Paw Shirt

Dude it's totally up to you. I'm just used to using the Tagging System from the forum I go on. They actually pretty much revamped a lot of the development sections because some sections had tens of thousands of child sections, while some others had everything clumped up in the main section. Now, most of the development sections have the SAME sections. Nothing more or less. If they want to add something in, they'll have to integrate or add-on to their Tag System.

In addition to that, having tagged topics makes searching a bit more easier for the Search Bot or for Google to crawl around the forum. On top of that, it adds a bit of a professional flare to the section in my opinion.

But remember, it's your call not mine ^_^

I'm just trying to see what the best way is and what everyone likes lol

So keep making suggestions

Understood!

You could always find ways to edit that Tag System to make it better. You don't need to make it "[Buying - Shirt] Paw Shirt".

If you do make the sections, I would recommend just making a Buying, Selling, and Services section. It can't really get any more simple than that. People will know who is selling, who's buying, and who's offering their time to do certain odd jobs around towns.

LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS.

I will be ranting so hard if you change it, this is convenient.

I can open up, and see if anything is buying or selling.

Well um.. I kind of like both the tagging and the subforums idea. So if you were selling a carpet maybe you could put something like [Selling] Lovely floor and the fact that it was in the flooring subforum would make it easier to find. Just a thought. ^^;;

easier to browse one forum then 4

What exactly are "Rare items"? Because if they're just rarer furniture, like the Nook Point items and event items, then a lot of people will be confused as to where to put some items, in Furniture/Wallpaper/Carpet or Rare items.

IMHO, I say go with 3 sub-forums. (Buying, Selling and Services)
That way, we know what the person wants/needs.
If you classify it to Furniture/Carpets/Walls and such, there'd be too much confusion.

This is what I said in my other post. If Storm goes on with the idea of creating sub-sections, he should just create those three sub-sections. Then, to better make the sections organized, he should apply some kind of Tag System that the users should use so things are a bit more organized.

So who agrees with creating just three sub-forums? Who thinks there should be a Tag System within those three sub-forums to better organize the section?

I agree.

Whoever said the forums should stay the say above (I can't be bothered to check for your name), why do you want them to stay the same? They're so unorganised and messed up right now. A lot of people even just put "silver rod" as the topic title so you don't know whether they're buying, selling or anything o.o

Exactly my point ^_^

If someone just types the name of a Topic Title, people lose interest in trying to look into the topic. If there was a (and only) Tag System, then the section would look more organized because people would know exactly who's selling and buying what. Now, if we have different sections, it'll look a bit more formal, however, that doesn't mean there won't be the occasional person to post in the wrong section and get bashed by the more 'not-so-nice' members.
