Thanks for stopping by! :)

I just wanted to ask- should I hack my town? I've already done the research on it and figured some stuff out for myself. I would never go into something like this blind. In my case, I just want to be able to freely add plants/decor to my town without buying or breeding. I also wanted to move a building (Copper) over by only one space for symmetry purposes. But that's it! I don't want to cheat to get bells or anything like that. I still enjoy playing the game normally, so I would never do anything too extreme.

But I wanted to ask- is it a good idea, or will I regret it?

Well, I was in the same position, there was just one rock that's always been the thorn in my side... I don't think you'd regret it, especially if you're not profiting of any way from it, you're just making your town as you'd like it to be. Not, you know, mashing all building together or being obnoxious about it. One of these years, I want to have one town just to fiddle with, I want to put palm trees on land and bushes on the beach. (like they tend to do)

I don't see anything wrong with that. I feel like it'd be pretty satisfying to finally move that building a couple tiles over just into the perfect spot.
Other than things like that, hybrid sellers are angels and save us from having to breed flowers haha

Also, if I could, I would TOTALLY hack to get rid of these 2 rocks that are SO aggravating.

I've used a couple wonderful shops for buying flowers in the past. :) But I'm sure it just save everyone the headache of me just hacking instead of purchasing 100+ flowers a day. hehe

hacking your town is generally ok if you're not messing with some major stuff but to be safe always keep a back up of your town if something goes wrong, moving buildings are especially risky iicr. there may have been more stuff that I have missed since I wasnt keeping up with the hacking scene when I took I hiatus from animal crossing.

Yes, a lot has changed regarding hacking over the years. Unfortunately for me, a lot of the tutorials are outdated, and the newer ones are unclear/confusing. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to take a chance at ruining my town because I don't know what to download and where.

ACNL Modding just created a web site for ACNL modding, its up to date and it even has a CFW guide. I suggest you check it out.

Keep a backup of your town somewhere before you start just in case. That way you can go "nopenopenope" and go back haha. Once you do that, I'd say why not go for it?

ive never hacked my town as ive never known how to do it, but if your doing it for coesmetic reasons i recon you should go ahead and do it, it will make your town look exactly the way you want and that would be wonderful. As everyone has said, just be careful and make sure to keep a back up. Also if you do do this, please post pictures of your final result, i would love to see them :)

If you really want to do it, then I?d say absolutely go for it- it?s your game to have fun with as you wish, and if you don?t you may always wonder what could have been!

I haven't got anything against hacked towns, but having to compromise with a rock in a bad place or a pond in a less than favourable area can create a lot of creativity. Compromise = creativity

Would you mind saying what those experiences were?

That would involve talking about the actions of specific people, which might be against the rules if they were here, but I don't think they are. These didn't happen here.

With New Leaf, aside from Club Tortimer, someone with a giveaway town got annoyed at some goofus that kept asking for 100 maid dresses. The one with the hack town actually said they could do something with flags in the code to make it so the dresses couldn't be put down, clogging the inventory.

I could go on about Pokemon. Basically aggressive griefers.

Also people have mentioned letting hackers from Club Tortimer into their town and blocking the house entrances with an unbreakable rock. I have seen people spawn many things including gift wrapped scorpions, and Christmas trees on the island. In addition to that they can spam emotes not from Dr. Shrunk to prevent people from leaving using the emergency exit option on the bottom screen, added in the amiibo update.
