Sooo, it's been a hot minute since i've picked up my game. (maybe a year) I finally opened it today and for some reason the date is set to January 1st, 2012! I know for sure that this is not the date that I left off on. It seems my DS clock reset or something...because it is on the same date/time. I'm afraid to even touch it, because I know the consequences of moving my game forward that much. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this without messing up my town/villagers? Thanks!

Can you recall the exact date you last played? Checked the Activity Log? You can TT safely once you are at the right date!

1.) Load the game
2.) Set your town to the beautiful ordinance if it isn't already
3.) Get a villager to ping you about moving
4.) Convince them to stay
5.) Time travel to the current day

Would this work, maybe;;? It would likely prevent any villagers from moving/weeds from growing, but your town would still affected a bit ^^

It may work, I do already have a the beautiful ordinance.
I'm mostly worried about my villagers because I have a lot that I've spent forever trying to get.

When I go to check my last played it says 1/1/2011, which doesn't make sense. :/

Then go try this one, you said last year, yes? Then slowly recall month by month which activity you might've done. As long as you remembered you played that month it's good. Check your screenshots to get a rough estimate if you took pictures as well.

That’s, odd. Never seen that before, wish I could help though! Hope it gets resolved.

I’ve seen this happen a couple of times, and I think it is pretty easily sorted. I’m not 100% sure this is the case, but I found that as long as my 3DS Clock was set to the right date, changing that couple of years didn’t have any effect on my town (no weeds, no villager move outs, none of them even mentioning that I had been gone for a while!). Having beautiful town ordinance probably was the cause for the first one, but the rest seemed to work fine. This worked when I had to get a new 3DS, which is the only time I’ve seen this happen. Your situation seems slightly different, so I have no idea if the same thing will work for you. Don’t know if this is of any use, and I definitely don’t want your town and stuff to be ruined! I hope you find a solution, and get your town back to the right date! ^^

Okay so, ex time traveler here, now I'm someone who takes 9 month hiatuses. xD
I can confirm that the stop villager from moving method works. What you should do is is this:
Get one villager to give the 'rumor dialogue' of their personality type (nothing involving your player is such a bell pincher or those things, no the 'rumors are so scary' 'before you go repeating a rumor it's best to look into it yourself' etc. dialogue). You can find what dialogue it is online but if you aren't sure you can screenshot it and show me here, I have no problems helping.

If that one villager gives their rumor dialogue: the others in your town are confirmed to not be moving.
If that one villagers says someone is thinking of moving: you have to find and have that villager ping and stop them, if this happens you can save and turn off your game, timetravel in ONE step and everything will be fine.

If the second option occurs you are done now. If the first option occurs there are some additional steps to take, as you might have been talking to the mover! There are two ways to find out.
1: get a second villager to give their rumor dialogue, if this occurs you can save and timetravel safely.
2: get the villager who gave you their rumor dialogue to ping you, if it's a moving ping you can stop them and save and timetravel, if it's a ping about anything else that villager has just been confirmed to not be a mover and you can do the same.

Hope this helped, let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you guys, these worked for me! Also thanks to everyone else who replied to this thread. :)
