Thoughts on time travelling

Having your friends pressure you into doing TT isnt cool and you should def let them know that you feel against it. I say if they make a big deal out of it then they are real friends.
That is your game to play how you want, not theirs.

Personally i only TT maybe a couple hours in a day? just to catch bugs or fish that i may have missed and then go back to regular time. (like if i know im going to be busy at that time or something)

Arguable the most famous town of Aika village was time traveled (sit under the tree, and look at the dates things happen, it was HEAVILY time traveled). However, it was set up so well, 99% don't care, or even know.

The other thing about time travel, speeding through all those events will most likely make you grow tired of the game faster than you would have otherwise, meaning 13 months after getting the game, you've moved on- which is why so many StreetPass tags I now get, a good 80 to 90 percent are NOT New Leaf. I'm still here, over 13 months later, still playing one day at a time, setting up one thing at a time, doing all these events and days in real time, enjoying it, even after putting in a whopping 2,300+ total hours combined of playtime on 4 different systems (mostly managing 3 different towns daily, which takes work).

You pay for the game and the 3DS. Play how you want to, who cares what anyone else thinks.

As for me, I have TT'd because it means I can play the game more in one day.. It makes getting villagers slightly easier, and you can grow flowers a lot quicker and structure your town a lot better.. Without TT you have to do a lot of planning, and a villager plot can upset that if you're not careful.

I've stopped TT'ing now however because after you've done everything, it does get very stale, so slowing it down means you can enjoy the game for longer after you've done a lot of stuff you wanted to do.

I don't really TT in my real towns but do in my harvest towns.
The first town I TT once and happy it's a day ahead. It works out perfect for the holidays. Play them in the game and than enjoy it with your family. My clocks in my real towns aren't set on real time. I play later and managing three town would be impossible with the same time.
My 1st harvest town I did TT a lot to grow perfect fruit and to buy items from the stores. The stores got larger from buying items.
I did play the holidays in advance and it didn't ruin it in my real town. It's different playing an event with your real town villagers.
In my TT town I didn't speak to the villagers unless I had to. That town is now a real town and doesn't TT anymore.
The other 2 harvest towns don't buy items from retail or play events. They just harvest fruit.

I've been playing since the release date and still love it. Play the game the way you want.
