Having played with them, I lost many a time traveler due to them burning themselves out faster than I did. Like WAY faster. Sure, they unlocked all their shops in a day, got 100 million bells from the post office letters (and people say tt-ing to collect money isn't cheating, uh huh, hmmmm), and had the 500 day tree a month into playing, but look at them now. That was in 2013, and they all told me they've grown tired of playing- gee, I wonder why, maybe because you didn't play it in real time, one of the selling points to Animal Crossing! Blowing through it quickly means you're going to illegitimately achieve certain milestones ahead of others. That's what I like about the town tree, it shows that I really put 500+ days into this game, unlocking everything as time progressed, and really earned what I got (sitting under it verifies it too). Taking it day-by-day was the whole point, the game is set in real life time, and not many games are. The first commercial Nintendo used in 2002 pitched the game as a Real World (tv show) type game where 4 people live in this town, just like in real life.
