I find it to be very polarizing in the community. People either do it and are very defensive, or don't do it and criticize those who do.

I do time travel, I have since game cube, but I don't understand the need to argue about it. I'm not about to try to convince anyone, it's your game and really not my business how you plan to play it.

My personal reasoning for doing it is simply that I like to play a lot. I usually do everything I want to do within 30 minutes to an hour of starting the day, and it usually isn't enough. So I time travel to the next day and play more. It's not for money or anything like that. Just to play more. I'm not a very patient person in general, I suppose. :p

I guess I have a few questions. What are your thoughts on time traveling in general and how the community reacts to it? If you do, why? Do you ridicule people whether they do it or not? Why or why not? Okay, that was more than a few, but I'm very interested in how people perceive it, as it seems to be an interesting point of conversation/contention within the animal crossing community.

Im just really into time travelling because I am really impatient, and I cant stand having to wait ages for stuff to be completed. I just really like to try and complete main street before doing anything else ;) I think some people probably have issues with it because they might see it as a form of cheating, and think that animal crossing is meant to be taken day by day. But I guess its just different for everyone.

Yeah, I time travel, but I can see why people wouldn't like doing it. It's like "cheating". I have no problem with that though.

I always time traveled. I find it silly if people have to argue about whether someone does or not haha. It's your game so you play it how you want.
The first months of owning ACNL I tried not to, but it didn't last long. I usually do if I'm playing late night after all the shops are closed.

I don't really see many people on TBT who are against time traveling tbh. People should just play however they want; it's their game.

eh I mean I used to nonstop but I really really started disliking it because I was an amateur at TTing villagers out and didn't know when they'd ping etc. and because of that I used to have far too many TT accidents with my very most favorite villagers and it really got under my skin and I decided to reset and make it a rule now not too, unless it's to TT a villager out in order to buy a new one or just occasionally if I want a pwp to finish etc.

I respect everyone's opinion and ways they play etc. everyone's different! plus it's you're game, so I think everyone should be able to play exactly the way they please!!! (⌒▽⌒)

When I started to get really into the game I would time travel a lot. I wanted to play more, get more progress to the main street buildings and cycle out villagers. Now that I’m all settled in I only time travel if I’m too busy to play for a while, in which case I time travel back to when I last played and play every day so I don’t lose any villagers. I don’t see the issue with it. The game isn’t competitive.

I do it only to get out the villagers i don't want anymore, once i get all of my dreamies settled then i stop and play in real time. I never TT past the real date though. No offense to the people that are against it but if it's my play style then respect it and i respect people that never TT (highly highly respect you) all i ask is you respect me. I had a user on here yell at me for TTing and was very rude about it and saying they never understood why i did it etc, like sorry i was just starting out and i wanted to get some stuff happening on main street. It's a casual game and you should be able to play however you feel like it. No one else should dictate how you play.

i didn't time travel in new leaf for about a year and now i do it because i hate winter so i stay in the spring/summer/fall months which gives me free reign to time travel to any day i like. idk i'm not interested in playing new leaf day by day, slowly unlocking things anymore as i've already done that before now.

People used to be really nasty towards TTers when the game was new. They were overly judgmental about a lot of things, actually. But I think that they're a lot nicer now, which is nice.

Personally I used to TT a lot because I would play for several hours at a time so if I ever ran out of things to do in a day I'd switch over to a new day. I've also had a few cycling towns which of course require TTing. So I'm obviously not against it. I think that people should just be able to play the game however they want to :)

literally this thank you. someone elses play style doesn't affect you

I time travel and have since city folk. The reason? Well, I have a limited amount of time in the evening to play, say maybe about 1-2 hours, unless I want to do something else with my free time, than maybe 30 minutes-1 hour, depending on my school and extracurricular schedule. Only being able to play at a certain time of day means that bugs/fish aren't all available.
Also, I get bored fast. I like new events in the plaza, new villagers/campers, new items at the Emporium and Re-Tail... it keeps it fresh and interesting. You have to admit, there's only so much one can do in animal crossing in a day before it gets repetitive. And honestly, it's someone's game. Something they are suppose to have fun with. If they have more fun either way, it's no one's right to criticize them. So long as they aren't ruining anyone else's experience (scamming, hacking into the game, messing up someone's town) with the game, why give them a hard time?

It's so good to see that people are so much more laid back about it, in my earlier experiences I've seen some pretty rude comments.

i had someone ask me if the cubs win the superbowl since i TTed to 2015 in my old town back when it was still 2014 and said they didn't understand people like me etc and it was really rude.

wow, stuff like that just makes no sense to me. I have no idea why it would even matter to someone else or why they would go out of their way to say something so rude about a game that isn't even theirs :/

The funny thing is that a lot of the people that were rude to me for TTing had no problem participating in giveaways where items/villagers were acquired via TTing! Like... if you're going to be so rude about something then at least be consistent about your opinion!

When acnl came out, TONS of people were against tting. Mostly people who had never played wild world or gamecube. They said "enjoy the experience, dont time travel". I could say, sure sure sure.. But if your enjoying the experience but tting.. Who cares? Its your game.

I think people also thought it messed with the 3DS clock, which I thought when I had wild world.

Also, so many people hated cyclers, because they were like 'wasting their time'. Well you shouldnt hate on them, they let you have dreamies to yourself.. For free!
