Thoughts on super-pale skin?

ppl don't ask me what nationality i am im filipino but some reason people can't tell

imo people generally will favor lightskinned people over darkskin - not always, but i notice this as a lightskin vietnamese person. a lot of my darker asian friends often comment how they wish they were pale like me, and i feel bad bc they should love their skincolor.

a lot of darkskinned girls hate their skin color from what ive noticed. hell, ive even talked to someone on here who hated how black she was. tried telling her she was beautiful no matter her skin.

a lot of skin lightening objects are advertised in countries such as india to darker girls as well so like :/ i dont know how people dont think lighter skin isnt praised in this world. especially when people think the darker you are, the stupider/poorer you are...

why would people think like that thats so racist guess some just think like that :/

I have super pale skin and used to be really paranoid about it bc I was pale with long hair and my friends would make fun of me and say I look like the girl from the ring/grudge ;--; But now I don't mind at all lol

I still get called this, and my hair isn't even super long anymore.

I like every skin colour, as long as the person doesn't use too much fake tan to the point where they look like an oompa-loompa! :p

It's a historical thing that used to largely be a fact- pale skin= didn't go out much because you're rich and can afford to stay inside, dark skin= worked outside in the fields to make money, therefore poorer, and poor means little to no education

That being said, this view shouldn't be used in societies today because everything has changed (but if a senior/older person has these views, it's because that's the life they grew up in)

i like ?ll Skin Colors, but i like mine the most, tanned! i have a nice tan and i love it. everyone at School ask how i got such a good tan and i said that i go to alot of beaches. and i do. i have been to selce, croatia, maui, Hawaii, italy, south carolina, rockaway beach, everything!!!

I'm purely English and Scottish - aka very pale. I like it, though, as it makes me feel different.

I think being pale is nice. In many places in Asia such as Korea, the ideal image of beauty would be to have extremely pale skin.
People don't "bleach" themselves as iamnothyper says, but they do wear ridiculous hats and garments to prevent themselves from getting tan.

I don't want to offend anybody but I actually think tanned skin looks bad/tacky on girls with pink undertone. Though I do love dark tanned skin. I love the kind of skin that people here are saying makes you look stupid. I'm 100 % (whatever that means) sicilian so mostly everyone in my fam had dark dark olive skin except for me and my cousin, due to my grandma having a bit of english in here and my grandpa having a a bit of french. So we both have pale skin and he even has blonde hair blue eyes. I do have olive undertone so I don't burn but get dark pretty easily, but it fades just as easily. So quite honestly I think I personally look more attractive tanned (I have dark bags and my pale skin is kinda yellowish) but a tan is too much upkeep for me. I was super dark when I was a kid bc I was outside all the time.

I do love pale skin on other people though. It depends on the person and how you rock your look. And like many others have said culture and demographics plays a lot into. In America I think medium is the general ideal since african americans get their skin bleach (almost every celebrity does) and white people are constantly tanning.

One thing others havent mentioned is health. Back in the victorian age in europe pale skin was favored on women bc an attractive women was a bit sickly and weak(besides the whole staying inside/wealth thing). I'm not exaggerating but being literal. Nowadays people generally like a healthy/happy look and a tan is a sign of vitamin D and an outdoorsy lifestyle.

tbh i don't HATE pale skin, but i don't exactly LOVE it? i mean, it's skin.
i live in texas and it's always hot as hell here so i get a little confused when i see pale skin, but other than that, i don't think it's gross or anything if that's what this is about.

im incredibly pale (i sunburn so easily too, i can never get a tan ><), but i love all skin types ♥︎
