@Watchingthetreetops.I have kind of a weird stance on this. I think you should joke about everything. I honestly think life is sort of...just a big joke that everyone takes too seriously. Now, if you offend someone, yeah, you should apologize. If you know a jewish person whose grandmother died in the holocaust, probably not a good time to make some jokes about nazis. But....I think it's really REALLY important to find the humor in life. If you take everything too seriously, you'll miss out on a lot of fun. And honestly...you can't really say anything at this point without offending someone, I think. I once posted a thread, (not on btb, this community has always been very chill and nice to talk to), about finding a good name. I came across the name Volodimir, but was told I couldn't use it because my book had nothing to do with Russia. Keep in mind, they knew nothing about my book, but still got angry for that one thing specifically. Now...the name is of Russian descent, but these people knew nothing about the character or the book, and honestly, names are just sounds that we use to identify one another with. I mean, no, you're not going to find someone named Takako in North America without SOME kind of japanese influence. But it became a HUGE ordeal, and it didn't need to be. I was just....looking for a name for a character with, really, no real history. Who knows? He could be Russian. His family could have been Russian. So....no, I don't know if there are things I would consider things you shouldn't joke about...just realize that there are offensive topics to specific people, and try not to start a words war. And if someone DOES get offended, acknowledge your mistake, apologize for offending anyone, and move on with your life.
Many people are not able to talk or express there feelings ,about things in there life .humor breaks that chain and allows a person to bring and cope
with lifes problems big and small. Humor knows no bounds and can bring many people together that other wise would never be able to.
Many Gay and Transgander Comedians were able to find peace in there life after a rough childhood though comedy, there in lays its true power
Comedy gives so much to all and in return asks for nothing it is one of our Greatest gifts. (laugh once a day to keep bed bugs away)
