I just reset. And I don't think I'm too picky really.
I'd like anything but oranges for fruit. I don't care about grass. I want my river to end on the sides not the bottom.
2 ponds max, retail preferably up in one of the top corners, but not a huge deal. And the plaza and town hall to
Be side by side or the plaza in front of town hall.

Now I've seen some people who freak out about grass shape; what side their museum is on, if they get the secret area or not. Will only accept a specific fruit.

But seriously, I've been resetting for about 2 hours and everytime I find a perfect map, it has AT LEAST 7-13 rocks.

What. The. Heck.
I can work with rocks. But not that many!

people are overly obsessive IMO. I never even knew grass shape was a thing.
I don't like oranges either, the perfect fruits look too similar to the regular ones. but I don't care too much about that cuz I can just replace them with foreign fruits

I wish we could get rid of the rocks cuz they drive me crazy too! I hate some of the placements in my town.

My town map wasn't very great for what I originally had in mind, but I've decided to go hippie and create natural paths, and not have a ton of PWPs. So now it works alright.

What do you mean by secret area?

I just picked 1 of the first 4 Rover gave me. I didn't know he gave other options if you reset. :p

My town has 1 beach (not split by a river; there's a really small patch that you can only get to by diving but that's irrelevant); the river runs horizontally through town; re-tail and town hall are close together and in the north, along with the train station; I set my house just in front of the hall, facing onto the river so no one can move in front of me.

It does have quite a few rocks though...

I'd also be happier if my perfect fruit was apple or cherry, but I'm pretty pleased with pears. Gold pears look neat. ;D

Also Boone annoyingly moved right in front of my 1st bridge and I want to demolish that and build a brick one. Guess I'll have to wait for him to move out :x

i picked my town on the first try, and didn't regret it tbh
i got my favorite villager for one of my starters <3 (Diana)
although, there's this one area on my map where it's like there's barely any space and its near a waterfall. i honestly don't know what I could put there. theres also a rock near the train station in my town where i want to put a fountain. there's a pond there too ;3;

TBH I just picked a map in the first set that came up. I'm really not that picky; I mean, having to work around a random map can be fun. c:

I didn't even know about rock count, pond amount, and grass when I started. All I wanted was a symmetrical river.

I like what I have though. I'm not even sure how many rocks I have, and I've been playing since around the release date. I do like having many ponds (4) in my town though now that I think about it. It's pretty perfect through my expectations.

I like to reset every few months, and I am working on my 8th town. Something I discovered while doing all this resetting, is that SOMETIMES the perfect map takes almost until the end of time to appear, and sometimes it just happens to be among your first batch of maps. I don't think you are being overly picky, at all; you are just having bad luck with your maps this time. I just think you need to keep at it and eventually it will show up.

Rocks have ruined some perfect maps for me, and sometimes there are villagers I can't stand, or way too many ponds! It's not so much the number of ponds or rocks but where they are placed. I don't like a divided beach, although I will tolerate a small private beach. I prefer (but don't often seem to get) apples.

Sometimes it's an intangible something that makes a town map appeal to me. A map might meet all my criteria, but somehow just doesn't seem right somehow. And vice versa - - sometimes a town doesn't match my criteria but I love it.

Yeah. I kept finding maps like "okay I can work with this", and then I would get way too many rocks in very inconvient areas. I don't care much about rocks but I don't like them near my plaza. I can deal with like 5rocks or whatever. But the first perfect map I found had 5 rocks all surrounding the plaza. D;

Rocks are always a pain, wish my fruit was apples and the cliff jutting out below my house is just a wee bit asymmetrical (I have an obsession with symmetry), and my beach is annoyingly split right in the middle.

Other than that, you know, it's all just what I was looking for.

Guys. I finally found the perfect map.
I got distracted texting my friend and put my name and town name as the same thing. WHYYYYY

I just started a new game file, restarted about 5 times max, but I think I've got something that I'll like and that's different from my other town. It's got a long river the makes like a C shape and I've hardly seen before. Screen Shot 2014-11-30 at 9.33.39 PM.png
Like that sorta, I'll post a better map when I can. It's got four ponds I believe and the location of the Tree Plaza and Town Hall are great. :D

Mine is usually rocks, or a small detail I don't think about when I choose the map. For example, my last town's plaza was super close to the river, so I couldn't really landscape around there. :c

i feel you... my town plaza is like near the train station and town hall which i thought was cool at first, but now it's a problem bc i wanted to add pwps and stuff. LOL it's always the little things we don't think about when we first start.

I didn't know there was so many maps when I first started playing & also didn't know that if you reset, Rover would give you more map options, so I just chose out of the maps that he first gave me. Plus, I'm not too picky & I liked working with the map I first chose.

I personally love my map, but if there was something I could change about it, it would be that my plaza would be underneath my train station. That's really the only thing that would make a map perfect to me. (*^-^*)
