The Labubu Craze

I've had one for a few months now, and I think she's pretty cute. I like crocheting cute outfits for her and taking her out with me so I can take fun photos. I even bought a car seat for her off of AliExpress. XD

I live in Japan so I am no stranger to gatcha/blind box culture (there isn’t the negativity around it here) but I personally do not get the appeal of the design.

Labubus haven’t really caught on here so I only knew about them from the internet, but when I was in Malaysia and Singapore and last month I saw how big it is. I was surprised to see actual lines to get into stores! I thought it was just an internet fad.

I have mixed feelings about them. On one hand I like the pastel colors of some of them and on the other, they remind me of my generation's "hype" for Domo and Gloomy which I never really understood and were a bit off-putting to me.

I liked the idea of having a cute plush charm, so I opted for a replica of Teddy LuLu and I got a LeLe Pig who I adore. Bummer, I got the only one I wasn't super fond of (white just shows any specks of dust super-fast) but I'm still very happy with it, just requires more cleaning and being mindful of where I set my bag down lol
