The Labubu Craze

Oh those hideous things? No I do not. They creep me out. It's mostly adults I see walking around with them attached to their backpacks and I just don't get it. I don't get why adults attach toys to their backpacks anyway, that feels like a thing we did when we started school for the first time. But that's just me.

I haven't heard of them until this thread and this one video that was recommended to me on YouTube that was basically the never ending "It's popular with the children. So it must be The Devil/EVIL!™"

I’m generally a big fan of plushie things but I never liked the look of those when I saw them around, I was kinda surprised to learn they are insanely popular. It’s sort of endearing to see people collectively get so excited about something like that; it reminds me of the Furby craze of my youth. lol

I love ugly creatures, and I know they were someone's little OC that seemed to have gotten really popular. Unfortunately, the over-consumption of them is crazy. I'll get one when they start hitting thrift stores 🤞 Domos reincarnated

I like bag charms in general but I don't really like blind boxes. I think it's annoying to have to pay extra to get the one you want from a reseller or buy multiple boxes. I also think, like any trend, they'll end up in thrift stores or the landfill when the craze dies down. If Labubus are something that people legitimately enjoy and will keep long term, then they should get them! I personally don't like bag charms/plushies like Labubus where it's a humanoid creature wearing a suit type of look, if that makes sense? I like bag charms/plushies better when they're animals.

I enjoy reading peoples' thoughts on Labubus, be it positive or negative. I got a couple Labubu figurines recently! I think I prefer the figurines to the keychains.. And they didn't cost me an arm or leg either (lucked out at EB Games)!

They're Coca-Cola branded which I realize makes it even more overconsumption-y..
I don't even like/drink Coca-Cola but they make me think of Christmas!

Your figurines are much nicer than the plushie ones, in my opinion. Coca-cola makes me think of Christmas too. I love how you have the horse you can craft in acnh too!

They are kind of cute, but I have no desire to purchase one for myself, especially after seeing videos of ungrateful grown adults throwing temper tantrums over not getting the one they wanted in expensive surprise boxes.

My religious mom believes that the Labubu dolls are satanic, even though I just see them as innocent, but overhyped expensive toys that people are probably only going to keep for a while until they decide to store them or give them away.

I don't mind them, but looks-wise I don't really see the factor that differs to propel them as they are now. I don't have any, but I know people that do and they're just casual enjoyers. In other news, wooo gambling.

labubus are strange, but their kind of like.. ugly-cute? i would buy one myself honestly, but i dont really get the hype. their practically just little goofy babies in costumes.

I think they look interesting and kind of cute. I almost bought one just for the fun of seeing what was inside but I knew it would end up useless and forgotten later so I passed.

I don't really understand the craze and I don't really like them.
I have loved ugly things before, but not these. I think part of it is that bit above the eyes, just feels uncomfortable.
I totally don't mind others enjoying them. The bodies, the cool colours of the fur is nice. The face is just a no from me.

I just find it cray how there are so many kinds of mystery box plushies, and these ones are tranding. I'm not on many socails so I don't get it shoved in my face the whole time, but I do know its trending.

All I can think of when I think of Labubus are Furbies. They both creep me out, to be honest, but hey, to each their own.
Also, the other day, I saw a Labubu tied on to the grill of a pickup truck. It was, to say the least, very dirty.

honestly furbies are way better than labubus (not the new furbies though dear god what happened to them)

i'm not the biggest fan of them but honestly i feel like the hate is kinda overblown lol. i feel like i hear more people hating on them than actual people liking them! but i might've missed the initial craze that caused all the hate i dunno. i don't care what people spend their money on if they truly enjoy them!

The details on the figurines look good! I'm glad it wasn't expensive, either. Coca-Cola makes me think of Christmas, too! My grandmother had an entire Coca-Cola Christmas-themed glassware set that got passed down to me lol. I'm not much of a drinker either, but seeing Coca-Cola collab with novelties like this gives me nostalgia.

Labubus were a craze here in the Philippines last year. I thought it was a worldwide craze back then. So it came as a surprise to me it was recent to US.

But anyway, Labubus are overrated and overpriced. We have an abundance of cheap knockoffs though, and that's what people are buying.

Probably fake. Most likely. The only sources I can find on this are tik-tok/youtube content farmers, who look like they're trying to shove their camera in their mouth, and those kinds are always wildly throwing misinformation for the sake of views.

If real, could be some kind of knock-offs circulating.
