The Anime Thread

i'm catching up on kimi to idol precure : D

Back at that time of the year where I just want to watch relaxing anime with summer vibes, water, ocean...or forest?

Re-watching Tsuritama, right now, might re-watch Squid Girl after that
Or Natsume's Book of Friends

Started watching The Summer Hikaru Died. Look promising so far. Horror with summer vibes
I just saw the first episode of this, and it peaked my interest, so I will continue. Nice animation too. Looks like this is going to be a good summer for anime! Most of the series I'm watching just came out, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in these seasons. Other series with new episodes I'm watching: One Piece, The Rising of the Shield Hero S4, DanDaDan S2, Gachiakuta. And I recently finished watching Fire Force S3 and My Hero Academia Vigilantes, those were great too.

There is so much good anime coming out this summer!
I haven’t been watching anime recently, and I’ve almost never watched anime as it’s airing, but this summer I’m watching Takopi’s Original Sin (which I read the manga for as well) and will be starting Grand Blue season 2 now that it’s on Netflix.

I've been trying, and failing, to keep up with quite a few series from last season.

Anne Shirley is such a sweet, laid-back, coming of age story. It's also really nostalgic for me since I loved the books when I was young. I think they've done a wonderful job capturing the spirit of the books and the animation is lovely, especially the landscapes that Anne always romanticizes.

Once Upon a Witch's Death has also been cute and charming. I haven't made it to the end yet, so not much more to say about this one until I see how it wraps up.

Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc has pulled me back into this franchise. One of the prior seasons (might have been 2 or 3) left a bad taste in my mouth, so I stopped watching for a while, but seeing the trailer for this story arc I knew I needed to give it another shot. I haven't been disappointed. Great characters, setting, and story. I still have a handful of episodes left, but it's been worth the watch.

Summer Pockets is an anime I started only because it's from Key. I've loved every other anime I've seen by them and so far this shares the same qualities. It gives off vibes of a calm and subdued summer vacation with the main character finding friendship and even a little romance along the way. But there are mysterious and melancholic undertones hinting at a typical Key emotional ending to come.

This season, I'm continuing The Rising of the Shield Hero. I've also started With You and the Rain, which is a cute story of a young woman who adopts a tanuki posing as an abandoned dog. It has a somber but sweet quality to it so far.

I found the older Hunter x Hunter. Would anyone be able to tell me if it's darker than something like Black Butler?

I'm pretty sure it was Black Butler that was too macabre for my liking. I didn't give it much of a chance.

CITY the Animation is really good guys.

Beautifully animated and funny, if you ever watched Nichijou it's a similar style of comedy (same author/studio)

And if you haven't watched Nichijou give that a shot too THEY'RE BOTH SO GOOD

I kind of binged a lot of My Hero Academia with season 6 and 7. Within the span of 2 months so I guess that's not really binging, but it is for me since I can go really long stretches without watching a show and then pick it up again. It's just how it is sometimes with life. I don't know. I feel like they didn't really allow enough breathing space with the remaining seasons. I guess the author was just burned out from the series and trying to rush to the home plate. What I've watched so far has been nice enough, but it just feels like there could've been a lot more time to let it all soak in?

Like without getting into spoilers the war arc and the final battle arc happened way too fast right after the other. It just felt like kind of sloppy writing or pacing. I still enjoyed it, like I said, but I was left not as satisfied as I thought I would be.

Finished watching Dr.Stone first season.
I'm participating to the Summer Stack Challenge, Spirit of Science on MAL and chose that one because it's a popular one. Maybe not the kind I would usually watch but now I'm curious about what happens next. I'm learning a bit about sciences lol.

Second choice is : Planetes. I didn't know it was an older anime but I like it so far. It's about a bunch who collect debris in space. Some people think it's too slow but i like the mood and humor and that old school anime vibe. I like space anime.

On that list, if you like space theme animes, I would recommend Space brothers. It's really really good and rather realistic. I would watch it again if I had time, but it's 99 episodes and I'm still watching and rewatching plenty others...

Just got my ticket for the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie in IMAX and I am hyped. Anyone else going to see this one?

Also added to my current watchlist, the recent seasons of Dr. Stone and Kaiju No. 8, in addition to watching all those other ones I named in my last post in this thread. What a great time to be an anime fan 🥰

I'm trying to marathon the old Hunter x Hunter show before the new youtube ID policy affects me.

I've only seen the first season of Dr. Stone and want to see more. It made me want to try making cola. There's a science anime event? I can't think of anything that might count for that. I'd argue some cooking anime should count as food science.

Yes, the cola made me curious too, I wanted to try it. There is no food anime this time, I agree it should be on the list as well, but there is agricultural science.

Here the list:

We have to pick up one anime (or more) to watch or rewatch during a period of 6-8 weeks and then we get a badge. (Of course some cheat...) I like that kind of challenge because it makes me discover anime and/or manga that were maybe not on my list and because there is a deadline, it motives me to finish them, otherwise they can stay on my watchlist for years.
