The Anime Thread

I've been too busy to post this, but I finished season 3 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Honestly, I might not watch another season if I don't see something worthwhile in advance. I had to force myself to keep watching it, sometimes waiting weeks in between episodes because it absolutely bored me to tears. This is coming from someone who loves 3-4 hour long classic movies, so it's not a lack of action. There was a lack of anything in this season!

They teased action that never came to fruition. They teased new and interesting characters that never got much screen time or development. Instead, we got an entire season of Rimuru and crew sitting around talking. I've seen some comments in general online about how Slime has always been more about worldbuilding, etc. I like worldbuilding, but in this case it was done very poorly. I'd have rather read the transcript of the episodes than watched them because my imagination is better than what they put on screen. In the early seasons, there were tons of worldbuilding, character development, politics, and planning. However, there were visuals to go along with that. Rimuru would travel and check in with his various allies and subjects. An entire season of sitting around the same table talking? The anime didn't deserve that treatment.

Also, I've become increasingly upset that he's ended up in this beautiful fantasy world and is turning it into a bustling metropolis. The dryads don't seem to care that he's destroying the forest to replace it with a massive, paved city?! That's fine. They'll just go live in a fake forest in his labyrinth. 🤬

I've looked into the anime being released this season and there aren't many new ones that I'm interested in.

Ave Mujica episode 1 is here. If that was episode 1, what on earth will happen to these girls in the rest of the episodes? i really like how you can look into Nyamus eyes and immidiaetly tell that she is... not normal. her brain only has enough room for social media and being devious. I am scared View attachment 606306
I feel like I have to check out Ave Mujica based on your post. I watched the trailer and it seems like something I could really enjoy.

Yeah, I've noticed that pretty much every seasonal that I've been keeping up with is in hiatus right now, and this season seems pretty weak. I'm honestly just binging as much Fairy Tail as I can in the meantime, until My Hero Academia's final season comes back this fall or around then. Anything else is just a bonus. 😂

There a bunch of old anime I want to watch, and I'm not sure I'll be able to anymore unless someone uploads them to youtube.

That includes: Magi the Labyrinth of Magic, Galaxy Angel aa, Galaxy Angel S, and Galaxy Angel Rune.

Last week I've watched Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture in one sitting. This hasn't happen in such a long time as I've become a very slow watcher over the years. But back to the point! I'm a huge fan of the original Code Geass, I've watched R2 week by week when it was airing, it's one of my favourite anime and well, I really enjoyed Rozé... until I didn’t. The last few episodes were sooo bad. I wish they had just left the series alone and not made any new sequels 😖

I'm up to the mid 30's/lower 40's in episode count for Fairy Tail now, currently on the Jellal arc. I had a feeling with Erza's past being so mysterious that the show would cover it eventually, but dang, she really had it rough. I'm curious to see how Natsu and company deal with the Assassin's Guild and Jellal, they seem overwhelmingly strong to be honest.

Thought I'd give an update on what I'm currently watching. I'm still keeping up with Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest. I've started the latest, and sadly final, season of Beastars and I'm enjoying that so far.

I watched the first episode of a new anime called Farmagia, which is from the creators of Fairy Tail. You can easily tell because the characters are near carbon copies. As I watched, I was thinking, "Yep, that's Natsu, that's Gray, there's Erza." It's basically a monster farmer shonen anime. Not sure how much I'll like it, but I'll give it a few more episodes.

I still want to check out Ave Mujica and I also found another new anime series I'm really interested in called Übel Blatt.

I count Miraculous Ladybug as part anime as it is from French and Japanese companies, then bought by Disney.

I'm close to the end of season four of that. I think someone involved likes hurting Adrien/Cat Noir a little too much.

I've also seen a few episodes of the Viz redub of classic Sailor Moon when I need something different. They have the English voice of Natsu playing Jadeite, and Bleach's Rukia playing Luna the cat. I do quite like these two voice actors.

If those two shows were to vanish suddenly, I might move onto Nura, Rise of the Yokai Clan, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun, or classic Inuyasha.

I started watching One Piece again. I really love that I can kind of just fall right back into watching the series without feeling lost since each Island is kind of its own self-contained arc. I just started the season where they go to the Cake Islands.

I've seen a few anime that sound about as dialog heavy, .hack//sign is an older example of one of that, and they may have been holding back some action and content for the PS2 tie-in games. Then there are .hack spin off series that take forever to get anywhere while not bothering to give you any reason to like any of the characters, like in .hack//roots.

I'm wondering if the show your watching does it more.

You have lots of interesting stuff to look forward to. I'm caught up and can't wait for it to resume in April.

I love the .hack series but yeah the format is not for everyone. They definitely expect you to play the games to get the full story, especially Roots which is mainly intended to be a prequel to the events in GU. Some characters become more likeable in the game imo

Haven't been watching too much since I'm mostly back to having to wait once a week an episode for the newer seasons. Solo Leveling and Dr Stone have my interest the most so far. I might go back and check out some more older series sometime.

I'm up to episode 42 now of Fairy Tail and REALLY loving it. Jellal's arc ended so well, and I'm glad Juvia and Gajeel joined Fairy Tail (I actually had a feeling they would around this time). Natsu powering up was really cool to see too, even if it was only temporary. This show is SO wholesome and amazing, can't believe I didn't watch it for so long. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next with Laxus trying to take control of the guild. 👀

I really need to branch out on my anime preferences because I keep watching the same 3 or 4 shows over and over. But I’m one of those people who hate change.
well, if you like a anime, i think it's fine to watch it multiple times... : D that's what i do with the slayers anime 🤗 ... well, after a break to watch something else after :3
