ARE YOU EGGY TO RUMBLE?!
Welcome to the fifth iteration of our egg decorating contest! By entering this event, you are guaranteed to be able to afford at least one egg collectible from TBT's Fourteenth Annual Easter Egg Hunt.
First and foremost, let's give a big shout-out to S.J. for the adorable banner!
Second, we'd like to announce that our Fourteenth Annual Easter Egg Hunt begins at 7PM EDT on Friday, April 3rd. You'll be hunting solo clues and working together with the community to find eggs - no puzzles this time around!
Lastly, the Reoccurring Backdrops Bunny Breakdown, Opalescent Oleander, and Easter Equinox are all available to purchase for 200 Bells. They will be visible from now until April 17th, and reappear again during future Easter seasons. If you purchased one in a previous year and it isn't showing, you may need to deactivate another backdrop in order for it appear. Thanks to Pyoopi for creating Bunny Breakdown, and dizzy bone for creating Opalescent Oleander and Easter Equinox.
This year, we're splitting the event into two distinct judging categories:
- Egg Decorating: The classic contest you know and love! Use craft materials to transform your egg.
- Egg Painting: A category strictly for 2D art on a physical egg - only paints, dyes, inks, markers, or pencils are allowed.
To enter, you need to either paint or decorate an egg and submit a photograph of it—along with a name card containing your forum username—in this thread by Thursday, April 9th 2026, at 11:59PM EST in order to receive the entry prize of 3 Egg currency. Eggs will then be nominated by the TBT staff members and will be put forward to two public polls. The community will then vote to determine whose eggs they love beggst!
- You may use a hard-boiled bird egg (chicken, duck, or quail) or a plain craft egg (styrofoam, plastic, or wooden) of similar size.
- If you wish to use quail eggs you must decorate three instead of one.
- Optional for the Egg Decorating category: you may wish to use an egg cup or create an alternative holder for presentation purposes. While not mandatory we will evaluate any egg holders as part of the entry if it is evident you have created it yourself.
If you are not ordinarily allowed to use the cooker alone, please ask the homeowner's permission first and ask them to help you if you are unsure of how to boil an egg.
- Only one entry per category per person. Entries must state which category they are entering.
- You must check "entry" on your attachment's thumbnail (see this post from a previous event if you're unsure how).
- A physical name card featuring your TBT username must be clearly visible in your photo.
- Please do not edit your post after submitting unless a staff member gives you permission to do so.
- The entry must be made completely by yourself. No plagiarism and no collaborations.
- Do not enhance your entries with filters or graphics programs.
- Your entry must be suitable for a PG-13 audience and must not violate our Rules and Guidelines.
- You may be asked to resubmit if your entry lacks sufficient detail or does not follow event guidelines. No yolks!
When your entry is finished, submit it by stating which category you are entering and post a photograph of it in this thread. Please remember to include a name card in the photo to prove that it belongs to you. Your entry cannot be edited after it has been submitted.
Entries must be submitted by Thursday, April 9th 2026, at 11:59PM EST.

Participation Prize
3 Egg currency usable in TBT's Fourteenth Annual Easter Egg Hunt**
* Egg collectibles exempt from this prize are the Golden Egg collectible and the Halloweaster Egg collectibles.
** Participation prizes will not be distributed until after the Golden Egg collectible has been claimed in TBT's Fourteenth Annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Q. How does this contest work in conjunction with the Easter Egg Hunt?
A. Currency for this event will be distributed after the Golden Egg has been claimed in the Easter Egg Hunt. To claim the Golden Egg collectible you will still need to solve all clues in the egg hunt before everyone else.
Q. What is Egg currency?
A. Egg currency can be used to purchase Easter Egg collectibles in the TBT Easter Egg Hunt.
Q. May I submit the same egg into both categories?
A. In order to keep things fair, you must create two separate eggs if you wish to enter both.
Q. Does my egg need to be Animal Crossing themed?
A. You may do whatever you like - just keep it PG-13!
Q. What can I use to decorate my egg?
A. For eggs entered into the Egg Decorating category: If you really want to make your egg stand out then glitter, craft paper, pipe cleaners, stick-on eyes, cotton wool, clay, and similar items are all acceptable to add to your egg. You are welcome to use a limited amount of natural elements (moss, twigs, flowers) to enhance your work (e.g., if you glue a sunflower to your egg and it covers the majority of the egg, it will not count). Your own handiwork should be the primary focus of the piece.
For eggs entered into the Egg Painting category: You may only use paint, dyes, ink, markers, or pencils. If you wish to add elements like glitter, sequins, or clay, please enter your egg into the Egg Decorating category instead!
Q. What can I not use to decorate my egg?
A. If it's not a traditional craft material or you didn't make it yourself by hand, then it is prohibited. e.g. if you were to glue a toy hat on your egg then this would not be okay because you didn't make the hat yourself. You may not use stickers (beyond stick-on eyes) or anything that has been made digitally. If you're unsure about a material you wish to use, please feel free to ask!
Q. How should I present my egg?
A. For eggs entered into the Egg Decorating category: You may take a photograph of your egg on its own or you may use an egg cup, an egg carton, a basket, etc to present your egg. If you decorate the egg holder yourself it will be evaluated as part of your entry.
For eggs entered into the Egg Painting category: Since this category focuses strictly on the artwork, please keep any props or stands plain. Any holders will not be evaluated, as we want to judge the painting alone.
Q. Does it need to be a real egg?
A. You may use eggs designed for craft purposes as long as they are plain. 3D printed eggs are permitted as a base, provided they are printed in a neutral, solid color and are scaled to the approximate size of a chicken or quail egg.
Q. Are goose eggs or alternative animal eggs allowed?
A. Goose eggs are not allowed due to their size. Please use only bird eggs that are similar in size to chickens and quails or craft eggs instead.
Q. Can I cover my egg completely (in clay, crochet, etc?)
A. We ask that you don't hide the egg entirely! These materials are great for accents, but the spirit of the contest is to still recognize the egg underneath. Please ensure the egg's shape remains visible.
Q. Why do I need to enter three quail eggs when people who use chicken or duck eggs only have to enter one?
A. This is due to quail eggs being significantly smaller; we do not discriminate against quails. We love and value quails as our comrades.
Q. How will the winners be decided?
A. The staff will vote internally to nominate entries. The entries with the most staff votes will then go forward to two public polls within two days of the contest closing. The recipients for the first, second, and third place prizes will then be decided on by the community.
Q. Can I win twice?
A. Each member may only receive one trophy. If you’re talented enough to place in both categories, we’ll award you your highest rank (or let you pick if it's a tie!). We’ll still shout out your double-win in the announcement thread, but the official prize spots will move up to include the next runner-up.
That's all, yolks!
