I absolutely understand. But do try to remember why you reset in the first place--something was bothering you, something you couldn't fix on your own, so you decided to start fresh. But not COMPLETELY fresh, because now you have a lot of experience and know-how you didn't have when you started. You'll have a running start this time around and be able to make it better than ever.

Nope, I restarted my first game back in late May and I cried wishing for my old save to come back. :(
I did a lot of time traveling at that time too.

I have a ton of extra DIYs laying on my beach or on stalls in front of my Airport, you can come and take them if you want.

No that's totally normal! I'm also thinking about resetting as I'm getting tired of the flowers overrunning my island (I can't terraform plus kinda getring lazy to clean up cuz it's too many now lol) plus I kinda want to look for a new layout (my layout now is not bad tho so it's not that much of a big deal for me) but at the same time, I already spent like 300+ hours on my game plus I already found some of my dreamies (and only for a few nmts to add to that, like 2NMTs for Chief, 4 for Audie, 5 for Julian and 9 for Judy, plus I don't know if I'll find them again if I restart and be lucky), so in the end, I don't think I will lol, I just have to find the time to finally start and work on my island again as I'm getting busy now...

I completely understand as I did this once already, it's tough and part of me still regrets it, but hey, it is what it is and I tore everything down and am re-doing everything now I want this time with more of a plan. I totally get it, though, I hope you don't feel badly about it as you have a fresh slate now to do anything you want to and do things differently this time around. Don't feel bad! 💗

Stick with in. In a few weeks or months your town will be redeveloped and you'll get attached. It will just take some time

Resetting's not for me, as I often play with my 3-year-old son and I'm not sure he'd understand what the heck was going on if our entire island and all the animals he's got attached to vanished!

However, I can certainly see the appeal of starting over and experiencing that long slow burn of the opening few weeks again, gradually building up your inventories of resources, DIYs, fish, etc... and knowing that everything on your island you've built from scratch.

As much as it's inevitable that people get drawn into the online trading scene once they reach a certain point and getting those elusive items becomes annoying, I really enjoyed the opening portion of this game and can understand why you'd want to do this.

I really understand the concept of resetting, but I've never done it before and infact I don't do it.
But I'm sure your island will be even better than your previous one and you'll get your favorites back at some point.
Just takes a while until you'll get used to it. And good luck on your new island!

Aww I’m sorry for the loss of your island! The good thing is that you have a new beginning now. I’m sure whatever you design on this one will be two times better! You already know what you didn’t like on your previous island, so it’s much easier to fix that on the new one :)
Wishing you lots of joy on this new island!

You're not being silly, it's understandable to feel nostalgic!
But as others have said, you've reset for a reason. Enjoy your new island and try not to worry about being ridiculous/silly, you're not :)

They say hindsight is 20/20. It's perfectly fine to regret what you did, and I would definitely feel the same way as you afterward. I probably wouldn't miss my villagers, however.

Oh god, I just imagined a 3 year old being traumatized by this! Have nightmares worrying that he'd wake up one morning and find that his house and parents had been replaced by different ones too...

When I reset my second New Leaf town after three years because I was finished decorating it and didn’t know what else to do, I still haven’t gotten over it fully. I had Nate, freckles, and Beau ;-;

I still regret deleting my original Wild World town back in like 2012 while waiting for NL, lol

I've had sleepless nights over him and this game!

He only watches me play for a little bit each day - we usually give the villagers presents and check out the museum or whatever else is newish on the island. If there's an event like the museum stamps, he'll want to do it every day.

However, after we had ten villagers and I thought we were set, I made the mistake of showing him a picture of the octopus villagers and he became obsessed with Octavian and wanted him to move in. Fearing the worst, I explained that for him to move in, someone else would have to move out, but he instantly replied, 'Marshal'.

I thought he'd change his mind or regret it, so I must have checked with him a hundred times and each time he was set on Marshal leaving for 'the red octopus'!

I managed to track down an Octavian amiibo and sold Marshal on here. Even at that point, I had a niggling doubt in my mind that this was going to backfire, but I think he loves Octavian that much that Marshal is a distant memory!

We've discussed the fact that nobody else is leaving, though - I can't face that again!

No, it's okay to feel that way. Surely it's a tough decision to make departing your favourite villagers to start a new file. I love my villagers on my island (and in New Leaf) so I can't even imagine what it would be like if I were to lose them. I'd cry a river if that happened because I made memories with them. I wish there is some way I could help you out, but it came at the wrong time that my 7 day online free trial has expired. I want to give you a virtual hug and please let me know how I could help. I want you to be happy again. :)
