Winter is what has made me delete every AC game since 2005.

Winter is just so pretty in this game!! In new leaf, not so much. Haven't played any other AC games so no comment there!
The bad thing about winter in NH though is they add this sleigh-bells sound effect to the town tunes whenever it's snowing, and it just sounds.. wrong. It would probably be more fitting in northern hemisphere, when it's closer to christmas time, but still. That and less bugs to catch

I mean, I haven't touched it in like 2 weeks. Aside from all the gripes, I'm out of stuff to DO. I caught the majority of the bugs and fish, donated all the fossils, and have customized my island so much that I'm nearly out of custom design slots. It was fun, but the fun's past for me.

I still like new leaf better. I just wished they would have added maybe the dream suite and mini games to keep me entertained. Right now it’s just bug catching and decorating. Feels a bit redundant at times. There’s times when I get inspired and I’m there for hours, but there’s times it’s just a bit boring and I quit for days. I’m still decorating my town around. I love the game and the graphics , but I wish more new leaf furnitures and features were added.

hmm i rly like the game, but it still feels like it's lacking things. i rly wish we had waaaay more furniture than we have now, and im worried that the only furniture we'll get from updates will just be holiday-related. comparing the new horizons catalog to new leaf's is kinda,,, sad. but im still thinking of different ways i can decorate and stuff so ig it's fine for now.
i definitely love all the clothes we have, they're a huge upgrade from new leaf lol. never had so much fun with in-game fashion b4. the shoes seem a bit funky but u can actually see them and the sandals r all cute so its whatever. tbh i used to rly, dislike eyebrows but. i gave my character eyebrows on a whim and im now obsessed and it wasnt a feature in other games so im out here living the life rn.
i wish villagers could ask to play hide & seek and actually enter & visit our houses. their new animations and actions r rly cute and they definitely seem more lively. i kinda wish they'd implement more of hhd's features in that we can actually decorate a villager's house. some of these villagers r out here without any beds and i feel so bad. i also oddly dislike how muted some of the houses' exteriors look color-wise; i used to think that the houses in new leaf were too vibrant but now that we can actually see color clearly im rethinking that.
i feel like in this game i feel more motivated to make my save pretty because it's just kinda simplified? it's easier to make ur ideas work bc u can actually manipulate the terrain around u and u can put!! furniture!! outside how lovely. paths r also easier to make & many of the annoyances with pwp in acnl is no more in acnh.
overall i feel like this game has improved features from other games but definitely lacks in content in some areas. it's most definitely my "main" animal crossing game now, but if i ever feel the urge to play other ac games i may have to indulge myself when im not particularly busy trying to terraform my island in acnh.

i’m not as obsessed with the game as i was prior to its release or even during the first few weeks of its release but i still love it a lot and am looking forward to all future updates that’ll hopefully add in a lot of features that are missing and make the game feel even more lively than it already does ;u;

I just dislike snow intensely because it isn't natural to me, and very bland and depressing.
The white makes my eyes spasm, literally, and that's not alot of fun, especially for three entire months.
I wish it was optional and gave respect to southern hemisphere residents who don't ever experience snow, and don't want to.

This game is my new animal crossing addiction just like new leaf was,, it just- It needs more..the update route is horrid..I'm still biased to new leaf though..I was so addicted I put 2000+ hours into that game and nearly made my parents regret getting it for me..I've had 4 copies of the game 3 of em broke I still played! I'd buy it again for new 3ds tbh..nh is good but still..

I am still enjoying the game even without terraforming. My playtime isn't much. I clocked to nearly around 300 hours.
However, I already reached my storage limit of 1600. (I need more please!) It's forcing me to dump some extra materials. I also decorated my beach with all of my umbrellas. It also stops me from doing my daily tasks such as hitting rocks and chopping trees for wood. In return, this also affected my ability to farm Nook Miles tickets necessary to search for my dream villagers.
I wish they can invent a bottomless pit for my items. I won't hesitate to pay more for it.

It's definitely weird being in Australia and then going in to game where it's all snowy and cold! At the same time I can't imagine not having a snowy season in animal crossing

I really enjoyed New leaf, but I don't know if I'd say it was necessarily better than New Horizons.
Mostly because, I've always wanted to decorate my whole town! Terraforming was an added bonus too.
At the same time, I feel very limited with how I can decorate my island because there just isn't a lot of theme variety.
On the other hand, I like having 50 pattern slots, and I kinda like the blending, this is the first time I've actually bothered to create and use ground tile patterns as they can look quite realistic now, especially with the roughed up edges and bending.
I played New Leaf on and off since launch until about 2017 I'd say. I guess I'll see if New Horizons can hold my attention for that long before I say for sure which one was better.

I feel less emotionally connected than other games for various reasons.
I find myself going, I wonder when this is going to feel like a real animal crossing game. I feel it's my fault somehow that I'm not playing correctly when in reality the villagers are less reactive. More life like, sure. But they never really ask me to do anything for them even at max hearts. And when I do favors very often they give me nothing.
I do really like it. From the point of ease of play and graphics and everything its great and I am having fun. I dont like crafting much but its at least tolerable now. The hybrid system is so thought out, wow. But its lacking something?
Anyway. I playing but much less right now maybe 10 to 30min. I recently got Final Fantasy 12 Zodiac Age for switch. I was also feeling that jrpg need. But I'm really just sinking all that time into replaying The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess on my wii.

dialogue is less interesting, and the focus is less living on an island with animals than it is building it. Events are few and far in between and the events we do get are trite. I really miss Wild World, which is the game I played when I was 10/11 after I grew up with AC GC. I loved the events. GC had its own unique events cut too, like sports fair & summer yoga and monthly raffles from Nook. But WW tried to make up for it with flea market day, town tune day (la di da day), and a bunch of old favourites like Katrina and Gracie. We don’t have that here. I started to feel like the AC series was losing its shine with City Folk, and NL fulfilled that prophecy despite being an pretty excellent game. I don’t remember it as fondly. But NH I am enjoying - I just worry about how long. Are we going to get new dialogue? Because Ive run out of it in 3 months where it took me at least a year before. I also miss all the quests. and yes, I’m tired of all the villagers just being nice and predictable. Where’s the town menace in 2020??? To be honest this is the first AC game I’ve ever played that I just don’t care for anymore.
The first year I played New Leaf I woke up early each morning to play it before college. I’d take my Nintendo to college and play it during lunch and jump on the game as soon as I got home.
But with New Horizons the drive to play just isn’t there for me. In fact it’s been weeks since I booted it up. I just feel stressed playing it - which is something no AC game should make you feel.
The pressure to get your town looking beautiful is really off putting to me. I know people will say “every town is beautiful”but that’s not helpful when you want to develop your town but you’re just not quite sure how.
Plus I HATE these new month / week events. I’ve got so much else to do I don’t want to have to participate in events everyday for a week or month to unlocked all the available rewards. But because I’m a completionist and a perfectionist it really stresses me out when I can’t or don’t get all the reward - even if it’s furniture that I don’t like. This is the main reason I stopped playing PP camp too. There was just too much going on and it always felt like I was rushing to try and get everything done.
Im glad I brought a switch and the game and experienced it but I just don’t care about it anymore. Which is very sad.

What works in my favour is that my memory is bad. I played Wild World and New Leaf and enjoyed them tremendously, but remember too few details from them to compare with New Horizons for a critical review. So I can only say that I'm enjoying the heck out of NH.
Visually, NH wows me. I love looking at my island and my islanders. I take screenshots to remind myself of those moments that made me smile.
Villager-wise, I realize that I no longer like the normal personality. I used to, but in NH I feel the normal personality borders on the bland and boring. Now I prefer the lazy and the uchi. Cranky types have always been a favourite.
I don't play NH expecting it to be a carbon copy of NL+more-of-everything-that-I-personally-want-please. As it is, it's fine. Not perfect, but then again, what is. I will play it as long as I enjoy it. And when I don't enjoy it so much, I will play less of it. Thank goodness for the thousands of other games out there!
