Should we exist?

Yes. Out of how big the universe is, God created this one tiny planet substaining the only life we know of. What would there be this world for if no one was there to enjoy it? So here we, humans, are to enjoy it all and to live here.

there's other better suited to existing life on this planet

like basically literally everything else

Edit: Think of it as, if we aren't supposed to exist, the Earth would've killed us off by now.

well if the earth was sentient, maybe we would be

I think we were given a fair chance, but it didn't work out. We couldn't love each other unconditionally, we couldn't love the creatures put on this planet, we couldn't protect the environment, the waters, the trees. We don't deserve a thing nature offers us.

aaa i agree this is what it says in the bible about the environment and we all ruined it :(

I agree, exactly what I think to myself all the time. ^^

The bible is irrelevant, unless this is actually an actual quote from the bible well then not so irrelevant, we all destroyed this beautiful world...

excuse me? it is not irrelevant the bible says to protect the world, the animals, the environment, etc....no need to be disrespectful

objectively, a "should" is impossible because the world, the universe, etc. have no concept of things "needing" to exist. the opinion that us hurting the environment is an opinion. the environment is incapable of feeling anything about it. the emotional value of nature is entirely a human creation. also, technically, we are natural, and our behaviors are natural. i dont get why we exclude human behaviors as a part of nature. why does building a civilization mean youre not natural? a manmade skyscraper is as natural of a component of a species development as a beavers dam. its creating shelter and utilities with the materials you have. were as much of a part of the life cycle as anything else, and even if were killing things on this planet, the planet doesnt really care. we could wipe every living thing out, including ourselves, in a giant explosion, and the planet would revitalize itself over more time. the only thing that will really kill our planet is the eventual death of the sun. we are not stronger than the earth, we are not killing it. were the only species we know of that can even consider our own behavior needless or destructive. its ironic how the result of a more complex psyche has only caused the majority of us to hate ourselves for our natural progression and social operations.

the planet doesnt care if something should or not. were simply a part of the life cycle. if we kill things, their energy is recycled. it doesnt really matter. id say "we should exist to continue the flow of energy in the universe" but itd flow whether we were here or not. because theres no natural concept of whether or not something "should" exist in the broad span of things, i cant really answer the question with a yes or a no.

i can, however, answer what i WANT. do i want humans to exist as a species? sort of. i think theres a beauty to our complex psyche, and im personally glad it allows us to feel appreciation and perceive beauty of our ecosystem, and i like preserving it because i can perceive that beauty myself. there are times i like being human, and i appreciate our culture and our history. i enjoy the existence of the human race. i even find a beauty in the horrors committed by mankind. yes, its horrible, but i think the fact that i can feel that way about something is beautiful as well! i find the natural progression and history of humans wonderful, and im interested to see what happens next. i cant really say i loathe or regret our existence for those very reasons.

this is like some giant ass ****post what the hell. tfw u sit back and look at what you wrote and think wow, that was unnecessary. i hope someone got something out of that mess

no. honestly if we're working this hard to try and live an easy, fun life, and maintain our planet for thousands of more years to come, i think we're all better off just giving up and dying. but that clearly isn't happening any time soon. life isn't all that interesting, i'd have more fun in a zombie apoc.

Thank you! This is the only post I truly agree with. I don't understand why people think humans are so different from other species. We may be more advanced than them, but we are still animals ourselves. It's not like we mutated and became something unnatural.

Well there's no way for us to know why we exist or why anything exists until we find out where we've come from and who or what has put us here in the first place. Honestly, the world is kind of a strange place if you think about it, and out of so many possibilities in this universe which could have made it our planet couldn't maintain life, we managed to beat that, and so in a way, I think it's kind of amazing how we've even managed to come to be. Of course, if you look at our earth pessimistically, yes, humans cause a lot of destruction, suffering, and grief in this world, and arguably, we do more bad than good. But the universe is so vast and full of many possibilities we don't even know yet, and we're only a small speck in it all. So I think it's great that we've got the chance to exist so, we should make the most of our existence and try to do good for the world and make others happy. :)

nothing needs to exist , but while we're here , because we do , let's just do our best and see where that gets us
