you say over rated how ? Support your statement. Story - nope one best zelda storys of all time so good been remade for 3 systems. Content- nope like all zelda games lot to do here (fishing check). Handsome looking non toonish link -Check.

Music that melts your heart - Check. Good Boss Fights -Check. All things you want in a zelda game Yes.

Lets save ourselfs some typeing ASK YOUR mom for 40$ more dollars. and get both.

This is like asking if you should keep your right eye or your left. I sincerely hope you get the opportunity to play both all the way through. I bought a 2ds just to be able to play acnl but got sucked into ALBW. I had it beat before playing acnl a second time. I'm an ac addict.
I actually appreciated that ALBW wasn't "too" difficult. I had to use a guide to get through majora's mask.

now you're just claiming opinions as facts

OoT's story is pretty subpar imo, going back to ALttP, it has the same basic plot but I find its execution far superior
content is diverse but so is most any Zelda, I don't see how that gives Ocarina a push
I hate adult link because of what its done with the franchise and a decent chunk its fandom only wanting adult Link, when the games just work so much better (and were originally conceived) as this child's adventure
Music is good, but again so are plenty of other Zelda OSTs, and I wouldn't even say Ocarina has the best soundtrack even if it is still very good
boss fights are decent enough, though I'd go on to praise the boss designs more
"all things you want in a Zelda game" don't assume your opinions are the same as everyone elses

and for the record it having some many releases isn't because BEST ZELDA (which is largely debatable), but because most popular. there's a clear difference

But still, if OP is gonna get Ocarina, just buy an N64 and get the gold cart. its the most superior of all the OoT releases.

Then if they decide they like enough and want to redo with a new spin either get GCN Ocarina disc or 3DS for Master Quest.

3DS you have to beat the game once to unlock it, but the graphics are obviously better. While GCN you can jump into it right away, but the graphics are same as if on the N64.

Fact: been on 3systems . Fact : Has one best Zelda Sountracks of all time so big infact they sold Zelda Ocarina's for years and made a killing . Fact Boss Fights are Way harder in OoT then in ALBW boss fights were a joke. but i belive my point was it had awesome fights and it does. Fact :tons of stuff to do that is a fact there is hours and hours of stuff to do in all Zelda game , so i really dont see much Opinon here at all. just lotsa good game play of both sides of the table.

Having the best soundtrack is a matter of opinion. Not everyone likes the OoT music more than that of other games, me included.

Cool, and?

OPINIONS must be a concept that's hard to grasp for your brain clearly. Also, I can't remember Nintendo ever officially selling Ocarinas. Other sellers taking advantage of its popularity, sure.

Fact Boss Fights are Way harder in OoT then in ALBW boss fights were a joke.

Ocarina's boss fights are a joke too imo unless you make it hard. Only notable exceptions possibly being Ganondorf and Volvagia, and even they aren't too terribly hard.

but i believe my point was it had awesome fights and it does.

Yet its not the only game to succeed with this.

Fact :tons of stuff to do that is a fact there is hours and hours of stuff to do in all Zelda game

So then what gives Ocarina the right to stand above the rest?

LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU

ok

just lotsa good game play of both sides of the table.

Never said Ocarina doesn't have good gameplay, I'm saying its not as GREATEST THING EVER as some people make it out to be. Plenty of other titles in the franchise are superior to Ocarina imo. Ocarina for me is kinda a flatline. It's not as bad as some of the other Zeldas, but its also not wonderfully great nor has it aged as well as other Zeldas either. It's still a perfectly decent game, but between Ocarina 3DS and ALBW I'll say to choose ALBW any day. Maybe if OP was thinking of any version of Ocarina I'd put in an argument for its original release, but I just can't see the point in saying to grab the 3DS version when despite worse graphics the first release is the most superior.

Arguments aside, I wonder which game the OP ended up getting.

Well, if the topic creator happen to own a Wii with GameCube/Classic Controller, he/she could just spend ten bucks just to download a port of the original Ocarina of Time (actually v1.2, whose cartridge isn't gold). The same can be said with Wii U while accessing its Wii Mode, providing that the user already own at least one type of Classic Controller. It'll lack the polish that the 3DS version have and won't have Master Quest on it.
If you're patient enough, you might see the same N64 version going on sale at Wii U eShop in the next year or so. You'll be able to use your Wii U GamePad and Wii U Pro Controller.

If you want to get both A Link Between Worlds and Ocarina of Time 3D, it wouldn't hurt trying to find a physical used copy of the latter for cheaper if you don't mind lacking a Club Nintendo code you'd usually get from brand new copies. Still can't manage to get both at affordable price? I'd rather go with A Link Between Worlds.

Bolded for truth.
Nobody's saying it's a bad game, just that it isn't the best thing since sliced bread, and it's all up to opinion anyway.

spoilers: they got oracle of seasons/ages

Lol .

Thanks for all the help guys, I decided it would be better to get aLBW first, since it might be good to familiarize myself more with the new Zelda games, and then play Ocarina of Time 3D after.

Thanks again :)

but ALBW is probably cloer to the older style games than newer

and still gonna say to skip OoT 3D, and just get an N64 with 1.0 gold cart Ocarina

I'm not exaggerating at all when I say Ocarina 3D is far inferior

well grats on picking a good game your gonna be happy with that for sure. @Lambdadelta : moving on.

Even though I like OoT more, I voted for A Link Between Worlds. I love the 3D Zelda games more than the 2D/top down perspective Zelda games, but A Link Between Worlds is by far the best top down Zelda game. It's such an amazing game, I mean, both games are amazing but A Link Between Worlds has a better story but it's way shorter than OoT.

Ocarina of Time is one of those things I don't think this generation can ever understand. Only people who were there when it was released, and old enough to realize what a crazy, powerful, revolutionary game it was. We were sitting around, playing Mario 64, Goldeneye, and any other lackluster N64 games we could get our grubby paws on.

Then OOT came out, and it was like- holy freaking crap. The over world, the epic story line, the day to night transitions, the adventure. It was amazing. People true to OOT will all ways be true to OOT, but probably more so because when it came out, it rocked our minds and our hearts.

And I will be one of those people. I loved LBW, it was a fun game, and a great homage to Link to the Past IMO.

But Ocarina of time had some thing LBW didn't. It had true magic. Actually programmed in the heart of that plastic cartridge, was strands of pure, unadulterated magic.

I've been playing ALBW lately.

...Wow. Oh my word is it an amazing game, I might wish I could change my vote
