Haha! Thanks for the responses guys ! I'd like to hear more from other people and see what they think
:)

I voted for ocarina of time over a link between worlds, it's just such a classic and an amazing game. I also believe it has more replay value than albw, with the unlockable master quest, and I found myself just starting a new file whenever I wanted to, for fun. But they're both incredible games, you can't really go wrong whichever one you get lol! :)

I've gotten Ocarina of Time two months ago and I'm still playing it, but I am not enjoying it too much. I feel like the game is too complex to me, I have to always go see the solutions on the internet otherwise I am stuck :/ I am new at Zelda games, maybe that's why I suck that badly lol xD but that really takes the enjoyment of the game away...

I wouldn't say Ocarina is the best game ever and I'm still debating whether to even call it the best Zelda game, but it's a classic. If you like Zelda you should play it. If you're just getting into Zelda you should play it. If you don't want to play it right now you should someday play it. (You should also beat A Link to the Past, because that's just as awesome if not more, but some people find it kind of long and difficult so that depends on you)

I mean, I'm sure ALBW is awesome (I haven't played past the beginning), but I would feel weird playing a sequel to something I haven't beaten. It's not required, every Zelda game and even sequels can be played on their own, but I feel like it might have a bigger impact to beat ALttP first? (I don't actually know for sure, maybe someone who's beaten both can elaborate on it)

A Link Between Worlds is probably more enjoyable if you have never played A Link to the Past, in my opinion.

Link between worlds. OoT is overrated and I will even admit that I don't enjoy the game. LBWW has a beautiful art style and graphics and more fun gameplay. Also, if you like doing stuff in any order like me this is the game for you.

Since you haven't played either, I'd go ahead and get the new one, A Link Between Worlds

you don't have to have played ALTTP before in order to enjoy the story!
When you're finished with that and have more money, go ahead and get OoT3D :D

A Link Between Worlds. You can play Ocarina on an N64 emulator.

assuming computer specs can handle n64 emulation

but even so, Ocarina has like a billion goddamn official releases at this point so uh....

Huh, really? Why do you say that?

I'm referring to the experiences that are similar in ALBW as they are in ALttP. Such as certain bosses and learning about the Master Sword's ability when you have full health, to name a few. Those are things that are not fully enjoyed because you already know what to expect. I still love and enjoy ALBW, though.

I'm tired of people insulting OoT saying it is "Over Rated" there would be No ALBW if it was not for OoT "over Rated" have some respect this gave paved way for Zelda and made everthing that came after happen million all over world bought this game to date it is 1 of the highest selling Game on E-Shop selling almost 200k in copys on NA E-shop alone almost a Million world wide "Over Rated games dont do this" but lets put this aside for a Min, You have a great choice here and you cant go wrong either way both are great games that will make you happy and keep you in the fun zone for hours. i felt the need to come to OoT Aid in Light of all the OoT bashing. If you wanna say it is not as good as ALBW i can live with that but dont insult 1 of the best games of all time.

just because a game is overrated does not make it bad

I freakin' love OoT but people say it's one of the best games of all time, when really, it isn't

As much as I love them both, you should get a Link Between Worlds!

I disagree with this.

if you think back at time Nintendo was in start of 2nd console war at the time, if OoT is a Fail then no Majora Mask, If no Mask then no other games either, up into that point RPG was a under valued market (there were hits sure but far in between) OoT showed you could make a RPG have a geart story and good graphics (for time) and great music. In short it showed RPG's could be more then just hack n Slash and endless text.

Sence i feel as i have defend OoT well i would like to say some nice things about ALBW too. ALBW has picture link skill (forget what skill is called lol) and that is one of the best things in the game it adds a deep feeling to the game and makes some of the puzzles in game down right tricky. The way the game mixes the light and dark worlds together is seemless and well done, giving the game a style not seen in many games . Battle tower is one of my fav parts in the game and alone is enough to buy it.

ALBW will go down as one of the greatest Zelda game of all time. made in the classic style that Zelda was made to be played in.

I'm tired of people insulting OoT saying it is "Over Rated" there would be No ALBW if it was not for OoT

how

and for the record OoT is a pretty blatant rehash of ALttP, so if anything OoT owes it far more than ALBW owes OoT

Zelda isn't an RPG and I'm pretty sure they've had lesser selling titles for this franchise and other notable ones before

and no sane company would up and quit one of their bigger franchises unless it performed well under expectations multiple times. they would try to fix problems people had with it for the next game to draw in a bigger audience

actually no I lied

Zelda 2 is kinda an RPG

but OoT most certainly isn't

I think Ocarina of Time is an amazing game personally but I just don't think it's one of the greatest games of all time. I don't even think it's the greatest in its own franchise. There are a lot of things I love about the game but I enjoyed playing ALBW better. I don't think you can go wrong either way though, they're both great for different reasons.

Ocarina of Time is more of a timeless classic than A Link Between Worlds. it and Majora's Mask are pretty much the best of the series imo. ppl call it overrated, but there's a big reason for that.

personally, ALBW was way too easy for a Zelda game that i breezed through it. also the game is ridiculously short. OoT was super expansive on the other hand and took quite some time to get through all the sidequests and all that and some of the puzzles were actually quite a challenge. overall i prefer content and storyline in video games and OoT had that for me meanwhile ALBW was absolutely amazing, but way too short and way too easy for my tastes.

but if you're a 3DS user, i'd go for ALBW honestly. it's a nice game with cool characters and great playability and has streetpass and everything and can definitely fit in with a ton of people. i personally find OoT to be the better game in much more ways than one, but ALBW is a safe bet that you'll love. i personally haven't gotten OoT yet for the 3DS, but i certainly plan to because of how much of an effect that game has had on me ever since i was a child and just how much i love the game to death :3

I was going to come in here and write a lengthy comment about how I love both of these games, but you've already summed it up perfectly. :)

I'd also recommend ALBW simply because it's more current. You can play the newer game and keep up with discussions, especially since it's shorter and takes less time to get through. Then get OoT and take your time going through that one and exploring and whatnot!

Hey now, just because it's revolutionary doesn't mean it's exempt from criticism. Some people don't just call it a great game that did good things for the Zelda series, they treat it like it's this perfect masterpiece. I'm reluctant to say any game is perfect, and certainly not OoT either, doesn't mean it wasn't special in its time and that it doesn't need to be recognized (which it is btw).

I think whether it's the best Zelda game (or even best game of all) is up to one's opinion, but surely there's no denying that Ocarina is pretty special. It perfectly captures, heck helps define, that Zelda "feeling." It's a classic and perfect example of a Zelda game. Does that necessarily make it the best in the series, no. I'm sure in this thread you can get plenty of detailed responses from people on why they feel the newer games are better.

Ocarina has its fair share of accomplishments, but after playing ALttP recently it's insane to see just how much was in that game first.
