Selling items to villagers (PSA - don't do it)

Every so often I have a villager offer to buy something from me. It's generally a random item that I am carrying. Not wanting to say no and hurt friendship, I've been selling it to them. I never thought anything of it as I've never seen them wear or display the items in their house until today...

Yesterday Lily asked to buy a video camera I had just gotten from a balloon. I said sure and sold it.. Today I go in her house and it's on display.. Not only that but she must have ran the duplication glitch as she has 2 of them in there!

I learned my lesson the hard way about giving them clothing and gifts and now just give them fruit.. I guess I wont be selling them any items they ask for in future as Lily now has 2 red video cameras in her home and they look atrocious.....

Just kidding haha I sold a flea to Wolfgang once and you know how it looks when you place a flea? It's a plastic cup holding the flea over a piece of paper. It looks TERRIBLE, throw it away Wolfgang pleaseeee
Also, I dont know if what happened was the dupe glitch, villagers sometimes appear out of nowhere with new furniture, maybe it was a coincidence.

I hate when they ask for fleas (Also, why does everyone have fleas?? Why are my villagers so dirty???) because they look SO ugly in their house!!
I gave Whitney a flower crown and now she has it displayed in her house and never wears it!!!!!!!!

Well they spent a good amount of bells on them so they wanna get their money's worth XD I think twice before giving them anything and only gift them stuff that looks good inside their houses. Be careful of delivering packages to them too, because they can wear and display what is inside.

Personally I don't mind giving them stuff and actually like gifting them things that I think will look good in their houses because I think it helps make their houses look just a little more unique, but that duplication glitch sounds really frustrating and this isn't the first I've heard of it! I hope I never run into that. My girlfriend has with Raymond and it seems so annoying ugh.

Yeah I learned that the hard way. Raymond and Ribbot got into a fight and Raymond asked me to bring him a gift. I did and when Ribbot opened it, it was a hot pink dress.... Ribbot put it on and pranced around in it all day.. A jock robot frog talking muscles in a hot pink dress... Was entertaining but ah, no!

I kinda gave up worrying to much about inside houses. I tried to get Bams to look better but he just did weird things with the stuff I gave him. Then of course I feel guilty not selling them what they want. You want to display that flea.... oh go ahead whatever makes you happy...lol

We should be able to steal items from a villager's house when they're dozing off. I think that would be hilarious.

Yeah I knew about this from playing NL. I messed up all my villagers houses in that game because I couldn't say no to them. Now in NH I say no to them only because my messed up villager's houses flash through my mind every time they ask for something like a fish or bug..

I don't like giving my villagers furniture, items, or clothes, because I like how their houses originally looked. I accidentally gave Apple something, and you could walk into her house and the item won't stand out, but I still don't like that it happened. I usually give them fruit when everyday so they can give me furniture or clothes in exchange. I hate when they give me 650/750 Bells.

I want villager portraits so I indulge all of their offers, and now all my villagers' houses have loaches, crucian carps, black bass, etc all over them. Oh well.

I think they appreciate foreign fruit more. I think there are other "chores" available such as delivery and such. I would prioritize those more over fish/bug requests.

This has been my practice since the latter days of New Leaf. I don't give my villagers furnitures, bugs and fishes coz I don't like them messing up their homes. It takes longer to build up friendship though, but there are probably other ways.
