Sailor Moon Crystal

I'm really excited for Sailor Moon Crystal, though i prefer the original and older Sailor Moon. The new opening is pretty epic, but I'm not a fan of opening song.

So the transformation sequences are in 3D now...

A lot of the music sounds strikingly similar to Suite Precure♪, even Usagi's voice sounds like someone from that anime...

Omgomgomg.
I saw this when it came out.
And died.
I grew up on sailor moon soooo.. Nostalgia!

I can't wait.
Especially because just in the trailer you can tell they are following more closely to the manga and that art style.
Since they're all leggy and stuff.
But it still hints at what we've seen in the anime.
(Anyone else notice the sale sale sale sign and remember that from the jewelry store?)
And omg her hair! It's so... Moving! Like they really tried to emphasize her hair movement this time. The anime didn't care to do that!

I'm super excited.
Weeeee~

Edit: I want sailor cosmos! =.=

It should start airing in a little less than an hour. I'm curious what I'll think about it once I've seen a complete episode because right now I don't have enough elements to really form an opinion. ^_^

I watched the first episode and it's MUCH better than I had thought. I actually like the opening now (I wasn't too crazy about it at first) and the transformation sequence is okay too. I didn't like it much when I first saw it, but it actually works very well if you watch the entire episode. I loved the attack with the tiara; I think I like this version better than the original one (though since this was the first episode, it's possible we'll get a different version in later episodes). I also loved how similar it is to the manga. The first episode of the original anime is close to the manga as well, but it's little details like the clothes Mamoru is wearing when Usagi and he meet for the first time. I admit that I've tried to stay neutral about this because I just didn't know what to expect, but I'm actually excited now for the next episodes and I'll definitely be watching them! <3

Ahhh I'm so happy I found this thread! Unfortunately I couldn't watch a live stream (it was at 6AM where I live and I am neither enough of a late owl nor an early bird to be up at that time on a Saturday lol), but I watched it this afternoon and ah!!!

While I absolutely loved the original and grew up on it, I still think I'll really enjoy Crystal as I am able to look at them as different shows. :) Though sadly I don't have any close Sailor Moon fan friends so I have no one to talk to about it :(

I just watched it and loved it. I I haven't watched much of the original (unless maybe I did when I was much younger), but I have read the manga. I'm excited that they're keeping things very similar this time around (particularly Rei's personality).

What do you guys think of the art? I wasn't too crazy about the eyes, but they've grown on me.

I'm definitely excited for it, but I haven't got the chance to watch it yet. I guess I should do that now!

Ditto on the eyes. The original series art had it's own appeal, and I think this one does too. The only problem I see is the unusually disproportionate limbs, most noticeable during the 3D transformation. I know long arms in anime isn't unusual, but it sticks out really bad to me because they're also very slender and, most importantly, shapeless, and those two qualities tend to make the limbs look...alienish or something ^^; That's just my opinion though!

I just watched the first episode last night! Im so excited for the reboot, it looks so good. =D

I watched it. so far i think the art is okay, i don't really like the eyes and lack of facial expression usagi has. also I MISS THE OPENING SONG ): i don't like this one that much but maybe it'll grow on me. sailor moon was a huge part of my childhood so it's kinda weird seeing how much it changed but nonetheless i'll still watch it

I guess next week we'll know what NicoNico means with "Free Distribution for 2 Weeks Only". I don't think it means we'll have to pay to watch the next episodes, will it? o_o'

I read on a forum that some people are convinced that the first two arcs will be covered, because they are both 13 chapters in the manga and there will be 26 episodes. I really hope that won't be the case and only the first arc will be covered. As much as I like the idea of not having any filler episodes, I do hope they won't go with "one chapter = one episode", because it would make the series move very fast.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the first episode kinda left me with a feeling of "What? It's over already? But nothing happened!" I mean, compared to the first episode of the original anime the fight was a little disappointing since it was over so quickly (though yeah, that's how it happens in the manga).

Anyway, we'll find out soon enough. One more week and then we see Ami in action. I'm already looking forward to her transformation and attack sequences. ^_^

I was pretty disappointed with how the villain was defeated.. Because I'm pretty sure I recall in the original anime, the tiara chopped her in half and she turned into this shadow thing and vanished.
But this time it just kinda hit her in the gut and she turned to mush..

Also, I miss the variety of expressions the original anime had. :( I know they're trying to make the art accurate to the art in the manga, but c'mon..

This is basically exactly how I feel about the new series lol.

It's not as appealing, but at the same time, I want to watch it, just because I was such a big Sailor Moon fan when I was little.

seems like they're changing a few storylines //considering they're making this closer to the manga.

but lol toei

anyway i really liked this as a kid and I've tried re watching this many times but I just can't. It's cute but too predictable and not my typa anime. I can't just sit through (how many episodes were there in the first one?) and watch. And it doesn't help that my friend is obsessed with it and talks about it 24/7. I mean it's great and all and I do it with One Piece so I understand where she's coming from but to only actually talk about it and literally rub it in my face is just kinda

anyway my ahole prince looks great here (but toei lol toei pls) so i might watch it considering it's gnna be episode a day/week and not marathon.

It's good and all, but the fact that they made her eyes too big makes her show no emotion whatsoever. It's because the eyes take up half of the face, so there's no room for the nose and mouth to show expression (which of course play an important part in facial expressions).

They focused too much on making her 'pretty', so it sacrificed her emotions/facial expressions. I'm still happy overall with the first episode, although I do agree that I felt like it went way too fast.

Just saw the second episode. I'll watch it again later today but I couldn't help but be a bit disappointed with Ami's transformation, though I did like the last part of it. Anyway, I'm curious as to what others think of this new episode!
