Sailor Moon Crystal

i've never really watched sailor moon before, but after watching the first episode of sailor moon crystal i decided to start the original series! so far (i'm like 25 episodes in the original) i prefer the original, namely because of the art style and because it's more humorous! the animation in crystal is pretty cool though

usagi annoys me so much more in crystal maybe it's her voice

Sailor Moon Crystal wasn't all that bad, while I never read the Manga I thought it was a decent attempt to capture the manga's story and style, it's pretty much Dragon Ball Kai...but Sailor Moon.......though SMC lacks expressive character designs.
The thing that I love about the original anime is pretty much gone, the characters don't really look that expressive and that's my only problem with SMC. The CG looks out of place, but it could have been worse.
And the lipstick on almost every female in the show kinda bothers me a bit, considering that the characters in SMC look much older than say the anime...though the manga did have that as well in some parts.
Though, I did enjoy it and I am looking forward to the next episode.
Can't wait on how they will pull off Sailor Mars' inclusion in SMC.

I enjoyed episode 2 more so than the first episode.. But the art still irks me. :/ And not just the fact that it's 'different', either.. It just looks a bit sloppy, imo.

Yeah, I feel the same. It's good so far, but at the same time I can't help but feel it would be better if they just had more expressions. And more action. The first episode has Usagi doing a lot of blinking and staring at something/someone, though the second episode was a bit better.

As for the lipstick, I don't mind too much, but I still think it's silly to have their nails painted and then wear gloves over them. That aside, the thing I really don't like is that the characters don't look 14 to me. They look older and - for me - that takes away from the charm of the original series. Which was probably the author's intention, because I've been reading some random chapters and the manga is actually rather dark and doesn't have that many funny moments.

I think that's my problem; as much I like the manga (because without it the animated series would never have existed), I far prefer the original anime, even if it's very different and probably not what the author intended to do. Yes, there were a lot of filler episodes and the whole "Monster of the Week" got at some point somewhat annoying and boring, but here I'm actually wishing for some filler, if only because I wanted to see Usagi fight at least one other fight, rather than immediately finding an ally. But that is how the manga is, so I'll just have to live with it, haha.

Still, I do hope the pace will slow down a little. I really hope they'll only cover the first arc. There's a lot they can work with (the Silver Millennium! Queen Serenity!) and I'd love to see that in animated form.

Just in case anyone wanted it, I found the full opening on YouTube :)

It has some pretty good footage of what's coming up, too :D

Thank you for posting that link! <3

I've watched it a few times and I have some mixed feelings about it. I absolutely love what we're shown, but at the same time I don't think the music really fits. Still, if this is a teaser for what is to come, then I can't wait to see the episode(s?) in which we find out more about the past!

This is a little random, but...

Found the outfit and umbrella designs online. I wish I could find a town tune of "Moon Pride".

I loved it more than the original. It sucks how long I have to wait for my baby sailor venus though. She's the best!

Third episode tomorrow and we'll get to see Mars this time. I'm rather looking forward to it, though it isn't so much for Mars herself but because I'm curious as to how close the episode will be to the manga.

Given that in the manga, Usagi uses her disguise pen and is seen by Mamoru and that this pretty much confirms that she is indeed Sailor Moon (something he was wondering about when he was sitting next to her on the bus).

I'm so conflicted with all of the senshi because I love pretty much all of them lol.

Rei is often one that I look at and think of as a favorite so I feel you.

They're all perfect.
I also really love the outer sailor scouts, especially Hotaru.

So...The New Episode of SMC came out not too long ago...
...I still can't unsee that triangular face of Usagi.
It kills me everytime.

I didn't even notice it until I saw everybody talking about it, and now I'm wondering how the hell I missed it.

Wow.. Literally everyone was attracted to Rei in that episode hahaha.

I think this is probably my favorite episode so far, though. I mean, don't get me wrong - episodes 1 & 2 were good, too, but after seeing episode 3, I'm actually excited for the next episode. :p

I've seen this thread a few times, but I didn't wanna comment until I held an opinion on Crystal. I'm a diehard fan of the original, even if it's 90's cartoon campiness is horrible (My favourite season is toss up between S and Stars. Probs stars because Haruka Seiya fights make me grin stupidly.).

So now after a few episodes in I can finally say... I like the first season of crystal a WHOLE lot more than the first season of the original. Usagi is still a ditzy chick, but not like to the point that you worry she's mentally defective like in the first season. And the art style almost mirrors the Manga's style in fluidity and details. I thought I would hate the style but I actually really enjoy it.

However. Yet again I dislike the fact that the transformations are not the same length. I dunno, this always bugged me a great deal even when I was younger. I get that Usagi is the princess and the protagonist, but I felt her transformation always took too long and the bad guys just sit there and watch as she transforms, waiting patiently-- yeaaah.

I also have to admit I'm not a fan of the added CG to the transformation, it disrupts the style a bit and makes everything look... weird. /: They should have just drawn that **** out and saved on the budget some, because it's flat 2d, flat 2d, CHEAPISH LOOKING CG, flat 2d.

Those are my only complaints, but otherwise I do really enjoy it.
