But really, I think Pichu is less of a joke character and more a combination of trying to push a gen2 pseudo-mascot for promotion with that or something and developer laziness.
Saying laziness, since Marill would've fit far better as a gen2 pseudo-mascot. At least from what I remember, with how much it was promoted back then.

though on Jiggs, from what I remember
64: mediocre-bad
Melee: jumped a ton to be one of the top-tier fighters after spacies/Sheik/Marth
Brawl: nerfed to **** tier
Sm4sh: buffed from Brawl, but not close to Melee level. kinda midling now, but she did jump from #34 to #22 on eventhubs today, despite being basically untouched as of the newest patch

But if this dumb topic is officially over, I will say I am a tad interested as to how Ryu would play.
Only thing I'm pretty sure of is I could see his Haduken or some variation on it being used as a final Smash. I mean it'd be pretty lazy, but at the same time it is his most iconic move.

Do the Miis even get a special victory fanfare for using special costumes?
Because that's the only way I could see this holding ground.
I do, though it would be a bit weird having a 3rd part character as a mii outfit only

Also, I find it funny that in Robin's Palutena Temple conversation, everyone says Chrom wouldn't be welcome in smash because they already have enough sword fighters... Then this happens
