Smash Bros Which characters do you want to see make in the next Smash Bros. installment as a fighter?

I thought it was an interesting topic to bring this up again so which characters you want to see as newcomers in a hypothetical next Smash Bros. game. I myself want to see both Bandana Waddle Dee or Porky Minch make it in as newcoming fighters because both Kirby and Earthbound/Mother need more fighter reps when we have enough Mario and Fire Emblem reps to begin with.

EDIT: I would also like to add Dixie Kong to the list because she deserves to be in the roster .

I also think Bandana Waddle Dee would be a good choice, because most Kirby characters already have movesets that would fit perfectly in Smash (for example, he already has an attack that would work perfectly as an up special), and Kirby needs more representation since he hasn’t had a new character since Brawl. I also think we should have another Zelda character that isn’t just another Link or Zelda. Oh, and also, Waluigi. I know we have enough Mario characters, but it’s Waluigi. The meme has gone on for long enough. I think Paper Mario could be interesting because of all his partners.

I don’t actually think there should or would be any other Animal Crossing characters because I really can’t think of any good movesets for them. Playing as Tom Nook or Resetti would be really funny but like, what would Tom Nook’s specials even be? They already had to get really creative and make up moves that don’t really have inspiration for Villager and Isabelle, like Villager’s side smash. I wouldn’t be against it at all, actually, I would love to see what they could come up with, but if I was in charge I probably wouldn’t include any. Idk, you can quote me and tell me why my opinion is wrong if you feel like it.

Totally not biased but I think there should be a second Pokémon trainer based on Ethan and Kris/Lyra using the Johto starters. They could also do this for the other unrepresented regions but I’d want Johto the most and it would make the most sense since it’s the second generation and the trainer we have now

For third parties, I think Zero or Proto Man would be a great Mega Man character, and there’s a lot of good Sonic characters to choose from, but they’d probably just go with Shadow, Tails, or Knuckles. Those are the characters I’d want the most though so it doesn’t really matter to me anyway. Maybe Gruntilda but it would be a little weird to add another Banjo Kazooie character. But Crash would be a nice character to see. I think maybe Dante from Devil May Cry would also be a good one? I’m kinda just thinking of random third party characters right now.

Finally, I’ve noticed that every Smash game after the first one introduced one really stupid character (Melee had Mr. Game and Watch, Brawl had ROB, 4 had Wii Fit Trainer, and Ultimate has Pirahna Plant). For this game, I think Qbby or Dr. Kawashima for no real reason other than those were the first random characters I could think of.

Paper Mario is definitely the one I want most. I would probably have him based on N64/TTYD Mario. I know there's plenty Mario reps, but his moveset could be really fun. I automatically think of him charging up a smash attack and a timing meter popping up LOL. Maybe he can swap out different partners kinda like how Pokemon trainer does with his Pokemon but then he has a lot of partners throughout those two games so it could be tricky. I would have a select 5 partners and you just sift through them like Shulk's Monado Arts and they're on the stage aiding Mario until they're knocked out like Rosalina's Luma.

Another one I would like, not a new fighter, but if they tried reworking Ganondorf altogether LOL I love him so much and he's my main dawg but he could definitely use a refresh being that he is a slower more powerful Capt. Falcon. At least he can use his sword now but imagine he was fighting like Hyrule Warriors Ganon????? And yes another sword user but you can see him blasting MF's too

bonus: this theme if you never heard it... imagine fighting on a stage with this playing??

And finally, as Yoshi mentioned above, there's usually a silly character that comes with each new installment and I would be fully onboard for Cooking Mama to dice up the competition!

Waluigi is someone who I would still like to see despite the controversy around him! Cooking mama would definitely be amusing and she certainly is iconic enough. Quaquaval could have a cool dancing themed moveset!

Collaboration wise, I'd like to see Astro Bot!

my main 3: Phoenix Wright, Chell Portal, and Doomguy.

Phoenix is in Ultimate Marvel V Capcom 3 and he's like super OP in that game, so I feel ike he'd be a unique brawler character for smash. color palate would include an edgeworth, maya, godot, apollo and athena nod

Chell would be a lot of fun, gunner type, I think her side special would be similar to Meta Knight in that she teleports somewhere, and I think her final smash could be wheatley and glados pulling the oponent into a portal to get like stuck on the moon or something. color palates would include portal 1 skin with the full aperture suit, portal 2 skin with it half up and half tied round her waist, one recolor of her portal 1 skin to match black mesa lab, one recolor of her portal 2 skin to match glados, and one recolor of her portal 1 skin to look like the companion cube (pink hearts)

Doomguy would be really fun; I think you could play him like Steve in that you have to keep picking up weapons in order to use them. So you start off just with fists as a brawler, but if you pick up enough ammo you can use his variety of guns, and if you get low enough HP there's a chance instead of ammo that the chainsaw will spawn and you can use that ala swordfighter for a little until it's timer runs out. His palates would be a Doom 93 with the abs, Doom 2016 with the full suit, Doom 2016 unicorn skin, Doom eternal power armor, and a fun one would be a 93 skin recolored to match either Daisy or a Cacodemon

I was going to say another Xenoblade rep would be nice, but Pyra/Mythra DID happen, so that's off the table.

What I really still want is another Kid Icarus rep, particularly either Viridi or Phosphora from Kid Icarus: Uprising. I feel like one of them could be really fitting in Smash and a welcome addition to that group. It's definitely a pipe dream, however, as I don't see it ever happening at this point.

an oatchi introduction or olimar rework would be nice, it would add more variety to his moves and i'll feel less guilty about killing all the pikmin fodder...

hollow knight / silksong - these lil beetle people would work so naturally in smash but idk if this crossover would ever happen a girl can dream

Paper Mario and Dixie Kong. I could go on and make some lengthy post about why both should be in, but let's be honest, both are long overdue for their inclusion in Smash.

I would really like to see Paper Mario utilize his paperness. Paper airplane recovery ect. His dodge roll would be when he rolls up like a papertube and rolls forward/backward.

I don't think the next Smash will have nearly as many fighters as Ultimate did. Especially since Sakurai mentioned stepping down the last time I checked. Personally I think the question to ask also is who do you want to see return because I doubt we're going to see everyone return. It's not a given, but I hope Toon Link returns.

I do think that sounds like a cool idea, but a lot of Paper Mario fans complain about how now, the series focuses too much of the paper aspect (in the first game, I think they just had everything be made of paper and cardboard to save space on the cartridge, but it was just more like a design choice that players would notice but no one in universe questioned until Sticker Star, and arguably as early as Super Paper Mario but even then fans didn’t complain until Sticker Star). If they did that, it would definitely upset some people.

Granted I haven't played TTYD in ages, but that game is the one that gave Mario paper moves like rolling in a tube or the paper airplane. So if fans are going to be upset about that then they're upset about ideas borrowed from TTYD. And then they wouldn't be able to compute and they would blow up lol.

I second Cooking Mama, Paper Mario, Tom Nook, Waluigi (who should be on the cover of the game at this point), Phoenix Wright, maybe Ashley from Warioware, let's get Skull Kid in there. Tetra and Urbosa from Zelda would be cool. How Birdo hasn't become a playable character is beyond me.

I'd also add something funny like a Goomba, Koopa and/or Shy Guy.

That would be actually cool to see an Olimar rework even it is impossible at this point. I would also like to see Olimar's voicelines being actually used in Smash Bros. games since he talked in Pikmin games.

Having Pikmin 4 mechanics included in their moveset would be nice too.
