My brother had to write an essay on the following article Rock Music : The Devil's Advocate, I was wondering what some of TBT's members thought of this article.

I don't agree with this article, but that's my opinion.

Please don't start flaming others for their opinions, keep the discussion nice and clean, and respect other points of views.

That's alot of satanism!

It can't all be bad
That was my point.

The writer makes some valid points, but he can't really claim the points for all types of rock music. I especially don't like how he tries to emphasize words to make it seem like all rock music is bad.

There is Christian rock

Which I'm not too big of a fan of :X

I kinda loled on the backwards "join us" thing

A lot of songs have "backwards" words

And I didn't mean it like Christian rock is the only "good" rock

Exactly.
Even though I'm not a Christian myself, I'm pretty sure Christian Rock Music isn't saying
"Praise the Devil"

It is proven though there are a lot of songs when played in reverse have hidden messages.

Music has many levels.
When artists write lyrics, they could be thinking one thing, but someone interperates it as something completely different.
Anyway, with this I feel that music gets to people differently. It can effect people greatly too.

This one quote caught my eye, (as it was a larger font) "And one clear message is heard

I KNEW IT.
THE JONAS BROTHERS WERE THE DEVIL!!
Nah, it can't be. Because classifying their music as rock is like saying a baby is a plant.

Christian rock is amazing. Do NOT dis it!

There's Skillet, Flyleaf, Red, Underoath, Thousand Foot Krutch, August Burns Red, Demon Hunter, Becoming the Archetype...all of those are great.

I can't stand people who don't like certain bands because they're 'christian'.

Well I guess they don't like certain bands because they find it offensive to their beliefs.

Like that Oh my god thread.
A member's friends felt that 'Oh my god' was an offensive term.
While others didn't feel it was.

Most modern christian rock deals with themes that everyone deals with. It's not like "Accept Jesus or you will DIE!"

That's what Whitecross and Stryper were for. :P

We listen to skillet in computer :/

I hate how he generalized by saying Rock. That *censored.2.0* isn't rock. It's noise. Basic Rock is like... The Beatles!

One of the quotes from the article about the MTV awards was replayed by Jack Black when they played to Satan in one of the music awards.

It's actually kind of scary. But he generalized too much. There's good rock and bad rock.

Other genres are like that too, dealing with everyday things.

But I don't feel it's right if they try to guilt trip you.

It's pretty much like someone putting a gun to your head and forcing you to do something, in a way.

I think there's always going to be 'bad' forces out there, but it's up to you to steer clear of them.

I know. It's one of those things I can't stand. Like when my "Christian" friends send me those emails saying "If you love God, then pass this message on before it loses my meaning."
