I haven't seen him for several weeks now. I think I have 2 real paintings, and one of those was forced. What gives, Redd? I thought we were cousins!

ok @ people saying it should be a year or 2 until we complete the museum? aren't there 40+ art pieces? with how it is rn, you'll get him twice a month and that is if he IS selling real art. completing it in a year is a bit stretching it as i only have 3 right now and 1 is randomly GIFTED by a villager.

I agree he should be once a week instead of what it is now. Considering he is in a different area to other NPCs he could also be on a separate timer, like Wisp, which would give more chance for the other un-guaranteed NPCs like Flick.
it's been forever since I've had Redd (and Kicks and Flick and Gulliver!!!!! I have 5 different types of bugs ready to be made into models hurry tf up)
I do however have a CJ and Leif infestation. seriously. please stop.
I've started buying Redd art with my nmt on nookazon honestly. it's pretty expensive but I'd like to have my art section done within 50 years so it's a price I'm willing to pay.
also! if you do get Redd and are really serious about getting all the art, make alt characters on your island so you can buy all the remaining things on his boat! you'll only have to keep them for a day and then after that you can delete the character. (also, make sure to make it so that the day after you created them is their birthday so you get sick birthday items and cupcakes from them too)

I only have one real piece of art so far, and it's the one he initially sells you when you talk to him the first time. He came by twice since then, both times selling all fakes...
So sure, at this pace my museum won't be complete for a loooong while.
At the same time... It's OK?
I don't know, art is supposed to be rare and valuable, so "struggling" to acquire some good pieces actually kinda makes sense...
Also I'm only missing one fossil, and actively fishing/catching bugs so soon my museum will be entirely done except for the seasonal bugs/fish that I'll catch as soon as they come in season.
If it weren't for art pieces I wouldn't have anything to look for to donate to my museum rn (except that one fossil)
So I guess no, I'm fine with that spawning rate?
And that's coming from someone who's been cursing Redd for a week, checking the map and seeing my secret beach empty every morning haha

i'm actually keeping my alt character though. i created it for 3 purposes. 1 ended up being useless.
1- getting multiple DIY's
2- getting to buy another art
3- getting more space for QR--didn't realized until after i created this villager that custom QR's are shared

I'm planning on having 8 characters eventually! but I don't want them to get in the way while I terraform stuff and there's no space left on my beach so I'm not adding them in yet lol
also I know! why the hell is QR carried over :(? I'm glad we have more slots than in new leaf but giving alt characters extra slots would solve all my life's problems
Nothing justifies having Lief as a weekly character. His selection is rather poor and repetitive, whereas Redd can come with only fakes or with repeated paintings or statues, so he should be a weekly character in Lief's place. There are only so many bushes I can plant before I no longer know what to do with them or my island is overrun by them.
I read somewhere recently that Leif, Kicks, and Saharah are all guaranteed to appear once a week on a weekday. This leaves only two weekdays free for the other possible NPCs to visit (Redd, Gulliver, Label, Flick, and CJ - I think that's them all anyway) and is supposedly why they appear less frequently.
Here's a tip if you dont mind a little time-travelling:
1. Once you get Redd buy all the art you need.
2. Save and quit and change the date to the previous day (travel back 1 day).
3. Once you start the game, youll receive mail from Redd with the artpiece you bought.
4. Save and quit and return to the current date. Redd will be there with a different set of art and youll be able to purchase again.
5. Rince and repeat.
Im not sure if this works on mondays since TTing back to sunday seems to reroll the weeks special visitors.
Im usually against TTing, but Im not playing along with this stupid RNG-lottery until they fix it. Ill usually limit myself to 2-3 artpieces per visit.

If I’m not wrong, I only had him thrice after the first mandatory visit. And the third time which was yesterday, the only real painting he had was one I already have.
I'd definitely like to have him as one of the visitors that shows up every week. I don't mind getting stuff gradually, but it's frustrating when an interesting new mechanic is introduced and then you don't see it for three weeks! I would like to buy some fake art too, to have statues around my island etc., but since he comes rarely I feel compelled to look up guides and pick the real ones. I'm hoping some of the others move into shops, or that they shuffle around the schedule after a while to make him a bit more frequent.

Yes, I do wish Redd will appear more often, I think the last time I saw him was over 2 weeks ago...though throughout the waiting process, my cranky villager (Elvis) and smug villager (Lopez) did gift me art pieces. By this kind of appearing rate, I think I am better off relying on Elvis and Lopez to collect art works for me

i'm definitely in the minority here but i think Redd's spawn rates shouldn't increase at all. The art exhibit isn't that large at all compared to the rest of the museum, and i really dont want to finish it in just a month or two.
If he appeared so often that i got to finish it quickly, it wouldn't feel nearly as exciting and satisfying in my opinion.
