question regarding 2 towns

I heard most people who have 2 towns use a cartridge and a digital version of the game.

Is that the best way to do it?

Would having 2 cartridges and same sd card mess up the saves?

I believe it saves to the cart and not the SD card if its a physical copy?

Which is basically why you can have 2 towns if physical+digital.

I just like to collect my games, so I always buy physical versions. And now I want a second town, but am worried that one will overwrite the other if I use same sd card . Is it better to buy physical version or digital for the second town, on the same ds and sd card?

honestly, I'd go digital because then you could have both towns in the 3DS at the same time for easy quick switching

They will not overwrite as the cartridge game saves everything onto the cartridge and the digital one saves everything onto the SD card. You can have a digital copy and 100's of alternate towns on cartridges. You can ONLY however have one digital copy on one 3ds.
I personally went for a digital copy and a cartridge copy - just because ACNL is a game I play the most and I don't like swapping cartridges all the time.

That's good to know I'm considering a second copy and wasn't sure how it worked, so glad to have that cleared up!
