So I've got a bunch of regular amiibo cards that I got when HHD came out. I've used them once to get an animal to move into my town a while back. But do they also work the same as RVs? Like, you could you scan one and order items from them? I feel like a big dummy asking this when I suppose I can just do it myself and find out, but it just occurred to me to ask this and I'm at work for the next few hours and can't test it out.

No worries, that seems like a reasonable question to me :3

Unfortunately you can?t; the only cards that?ll give you RVs to visit are the Welcome Amiibo and Sanrio villagers.
(I suppose the NPCs from the regular sets as well?Isabelle, Nook etc?though I haven?t tried that since I?ve just used the figures for those)

Fey is correct--the regular cards (Series 1-4 Amiibo cards) will not have the RV options.

The regular cards have only three options available:

1. "Move here!": Invite the villager to move in.

2. "Give me something!": Gives you a random item. Also a chance that they will give you their picture.

3. "Nothing right now.": Escape dialog box.

The NPC cards will not summon RVs.

Alright, I really wasn’t sure on that. Seems like they should though, doesn’t it? They just don’t serve any function other than being a collectible then, I guess.

Yeah, the only good thing they do is give you their picture when you press “Give me something!” (not “Give me something else!” or they’ll give you a random item) and it’s only one picture per character, so after that they’ll only give you random items.

I second what Kimi said—booooo. No seriously, that’s pretty lame considering. Thank you for clarifying though! :3
