PWP Trick!

I'm just trying it out for they first time, I just wanted to know if I'm doing it correctly.

-Swim out to the corner of the ocean
-Wait 5-8 minutes? (not sure how long I'm supposed to wait)
-go around town to see if anyone pings you (make sure your pockets are filled with flowers, you have no money, etc)

Also, are you only supposed to get one ping each time?

Yup, you pretty much did it! 5 to 8 minutes is what I usually do sometimes villagers will ping with nicknames though but good luck!

I usually wait 6 minutes and it works for me! It may take a few tries though but yes you only get one ping each time you do it. Make sure you are at the corner of the "ocean boundary" and stay there.

You can use a Timer to time yourself. I usually wait 10 minutes before getting a ping just to be safe. =)
Also, after exactly 60 minutes have passed, no one will ping you unless you talk to someone, this is because they tell you to take a break from the game. I suggest saving and quitting every time you get a ping to avoid this.

You don't have to go swimming. So long as you're outside, not on Main Street, and out of sight, there should be a ping waiting for you. They might just want to give you an awesome nickname or ask to change their sayings, though.

Keep in mind that you won't be pinged if the game wants to tell you to take a break ("You've been playing for a while", "you look dead tired", et cetera).

Also, if you are looking for specific PWPs for your town, you can trap them in one spot before you go swimming. Say you want to get Wisteria Trellis or Picnic Blacnket and only Uchi villagers can suggest those PWPs. Look for Uchi villagers and see if any of them are outside. Dig lots of holes around them so they can't escape or go anywhere. When your 5+ minute wait time's up, go to the spot where they are trapped before anyone else can ping you. hopefully it will be to suggest that PWP.

I used to trap Felicity (peppy villager) so I could get Fairy Tale bridge suggested. I kinda felt bad for her cuz I kept trapping her xD haha

And like Piyoko said, I think when you played for more than 30+ minutes or so, or you've been swimming too long, you will notice that no one will ping anymore. Then you go talk to a villager and they'll say 'Oh why don't you take a break'.. then the next villager you will see will probably ping you.

I do this all the time! Only it takes like FOREVER to actually get a pwp, and it takes so many months to get a GOOD one? these villagers man, for the last time, I DON'T want to build some stupid yield sign in the town? it makes it look trashy ;-;
