Perfect map opinions?

I ALWAYS want my waterfall at the end of the river facing north, because it looks prettier. I HAVE to have my train station blue. My town hall NEEDS to be any color other than yellow or having a brown roof. There has to be ONE pond. There needs to be TONS of space on both sides of the river. Luckily, I got what I wanted. Those are my only requirements though ;D

I'm that picky too. Can't have the yellow town hall no way. Must have cherries. Must have equal size above and below river. ONE pond or two if it has to be, but none near the station. I want retail in the north half and town hall near the plaza. And a place for my house in a little nook or at least to the north.

i'll take a picture of my map soon. I got my house in an area that will be all mine (a castle with like, a fountain and bushes in front like this:)

Like, the cliffs to the beach are on the left side and the river is on the right side. like a small peninsula. Hard to explain. c:

I think no map will ever be perfect and I think each map has the ability to be made to look great, it's just a case of how much time you're willing to put into it. Personally I had no idea what I was doing when I started, I didn't know which buildings couldn't be moved etc but I still love the way everything is turning out. If I could I would move my house, I don't know if it's possible or not but I'd imagine if it is then it would require paying for all of the rooms to be built again and I don't want to do that.

I think you should just pick a map that you like the look of and just go with it. If a part of the map doesn't work out how you planned just adapt and rebuild :)

I agree with a few people in this thread. No map is perfect, and what matters is how creative you are when it comes to adaptation.

It doesn't hurt to have general guidelines either. Mine were to have my tree in the middle of my town and not very many lakes. I got my map in 20 minutes, and I'm very happy with it. You can see it in my signature. I have heard people say that having a winding river leaves you with little room, but I managed to have 29 public work projects, 10 villagers, and 4 player houses with my layout.

With your landscaping skills, you could make any map look good. That's just how that is.
