There have been a few other "food vs. food" threads lately, so I thought I would add to the food competitions.

Which syrupy breakfast foods do you prefer? My vote is for waffles, as they seem to be a bit lighter, but well battered crispy french toast can be amazing!

Bonus question, what syrup do you prefer?

It'd be a tie between waffles and french toast. I really enjoy belgian waffles; I like them fluffy. French toast is more of a comfort breakfast food if I can manage to be awake for it, haha. I tend to eat my breakfast for dinner because I'm never hungry in the morning or I'm sleeping.
I'm not picky with syrups, I am fine with the basic one but I like it more when they're covered in fresh fruit.

French toast has always been my favorite of the three. French toast was the first of these three foods that I ate and it's the one that I've eaten the most throughout my life. While it certainly benefits from the first exposure bias, that doesn't factor in all that heavily for me. Quite frankly, I just prefer the taste of French toast more than the other two.

Pancakes are in second place since I've had them the second most often. They're fine, but they don't compare to French toast.

I've never been fond of waffles. It might just be that the ones I've had aren't that good, but I don't enjoy the flavor or texture as much compared to French toast or pancakes. I did have chicken and waffles once, years back, and they were fine in that setting though.

I don't eat any of them commonly now since it's a bunch of sugar and carbs, but on the occasion that I do eat them, I just use regular 100% natural maple syrup. No artificial stuff, actual syrup. I've never tried them with fresh fruit like Pyoopi mentioned, though, so if/when I have any of these again in the future, I'll have to try it. That's more in line with what I'd do with my diet now anyway.

French toast with brown sauce. :giggle:

All three of these foods are amazing, but I’m going to have to give the point to waffles. I love a good waffle, especially a light and fluffy Belgian waffle. The little pockets for syrup and butter…..maybe some strawberries on top…..a light dusting of powdered sugar….

I love both pancakes and waffles . I don’t have a preference for what syrup I use. It’s been awhile since I have made them and should probably make some soon.

I love waffles; crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I love the little pockets they have for the syrup and butter to fill up. Sometimes I’ll also add some cool whip and fruit toppings. I also like French toast every now and then. I’ve never been much of a pancake fan though. Syrup wise, anything will do as long as it not very artificial tasting.

Um all of them? They both are great in their own way. If I was forced to choose one that was gone forever, I wouldn't know which one to pick. That would be upsetting lol. There is a thing as too much of something and I like the variety each has to offer.

Pancakes are good with their fluffiness and how the syrup mixes in so well, but the texture of a waffle is so good. And french toast and some powdered or real sugar is the best. I'm gonna make them all for dinner some day soon. 🤤

I usually prefer French toast since I'll make it myself. I'll do pancakes occasionally. Not fond of waffles at all.

I prefer pancakes but only pancakes my mom makes; I’ve tried pancakes at restaurants and I didn’t like any. The ladt ones she made were really fluffy and light; they were really delicious 🙂

I love both pancakes and waffles, but I've always preferred pancakes - I like their soft, almost mushy (when drowned in syrup) texture more. However, on my trip to Niagara Falls in June, one of the places I ate at had Belgian waffles that were so good they've had me reconsidering my preference entirely. They were perfectly crispy on the edges, soft and buttery in the middle, and the maple syrup was yum! 2 months later, and I'm still thinking about those waffles. 🤤

I like maple syrup with both!

I love all three.. 😭

But if they're blueberry pancakes? THOSE. Those will solo any other option for me.
If they're just normal pancakes, I'd prefer waffles or french toast ^^

I prefer waffles because they have more texture. I do use syrup. My favorite is Pearl Milling Company, formerly Aunt Jemima.
