Opinion on catchphrases spreading?

I've never really liked when the catchphrases spread. I tend to like their original catchphrases, so I haven't changed any for my villagers.
Plus, I can never think of any catchphrases that I wouldn't mind them spreading around the entire island.

Yeah it really is rather annoying, like if I give a villager a catchphrase then please keep it or I don’t want my entire island calling me goalie or touchdown just because my jock is

that’s why i don’t change my villagers catchphrase - i wouldn’t want to give a specific one to a certain villager only for others to start using it ;;

I hate it as well!!! One time I put the word “mongrel” when a villager asked what there new catchphrase should be and it spread like wildfire :/ and omg when Marshal started using it I was pissed, and he asked me some time later for a new catchphrase and I told him his normal catchphrase “sulky” and that too spread like wildfire around my island TT_TT like, kid cat saying “what’s up, sulky?” is so irritating because I loved his normal catchphrase “psst”. I bet when he asks me for a new catchphrase and I put psst it too is gonna spread 😔

I hate when they sharing catchphrase because I made them say things only for that specific villager but now it is spreading.

It is irritating. I had half my island saying "liebling" (darling) before I finally reset them all. I had just wanted to get rid of Anabelle's catchphrase because I dislike it! When it spread to Julian I thought, okay, it's fitting so I don't mind. It was weird when villagers like Katt started saying it.

I really dislike that the catch phrases catch on, and they usually catch on super quickly as well. I tend to keep all of my villagers catch phrases their normal ones now. I'm glad it's not quite as obnoxious as it was in New Leaf, but it's still quite annoying.

i dislike how fast it spreads, i got diana literally just yesterday and today she was already saying lucky's catchphrase...

Its really annoying, after Fuchsia moved in, she started copying Roald's catchphrase and it just annoyed me since many villagers copied the same catchphrase as well.

i like when it's a generic catchphrase i think of, but if i give a specific villager a catchphrase that is for them (or was originally theirs & gave it back) i hate it when it spreads like a disease ugh. like they be running around looking so happy then use marshal's catchphrase. no girl, you're not sulky.

Cherry is the only one who keeps stealing other catchphrases, and she's also the only one who has yet to ask me for one. I have Isabelle reset her.

It gets annoying eventually. I gave Sterling a catchphrase once and it has spread to at least five of my villagers. What's even more annoying is the villager conversations. I was expecting a normal conversation only to be disappointed by having one of them notice that said catchphrase and then using it. Thank goodness that I can tell Isabelle to have them revert back to their original catchphrases. I'll take that any day over seeing the same one on multiple villagers.

Ugh, I gave Twiggy (when I had her) a very valleygirl-ish 'like, yeah?'. When it spread to others who just didn't suit it, like Wolfgang and Gigi, I freaked a little. This shouldn't be a thing.

It takes me by surprise for sure...
But I think it’s cute that the villagers interact with eachother.

I like it, it's cute plus I make sure I don't have them saying anything I wouldn't want to see constantly.
