Irrational Games just announced a new addition to the bioshock franchise; Bioshock Infinate.

It takes place in 1912, before the first Bioshock, and instead of being set in Rapture, an underwater city, it's set in Columbia, a floating metropolis.

Read the full story Here at IGN.

Thoughts, opinions, scepticisms??

I'm personally glad they abandoned Rapture, i think they told all the story they could in that setting, and I'm really looking forward to this.

That's pretty cool. I have a question, is it alright to play Bioshock 2? I have no idea what is inside of Bioshock 1 but I went to GameStop and the manager said that you are really not going to miss anything in Bioshock 1. Is that true?

Just read the wikipedia entry on plot and watch a few gameplay videos. Look up all the endings on youtube as well.

If anything you'll enjoy it more that way because rapture will still be new to you.

The manager is a dumb ass, get Bioshock 1 and finish it, its an incredible game. And it's dirt cheap. I got it for 15 bucks here.

Well I could always go to GameStop and get a used copy. Take it back saying it sucked then go ahead and buy Bioshock 2 used.

Or I could do what you said Ciaran, just buy Bioshock 2 and watch all of the ending then go on Wiki and read the main story.

It's worth playing through, i felt as if the first was better than the 2nd.

It's not so much that he's a *censored.1.2*, it's not needed to enjoy Bioshock 2.. just Nic would understand alot more things that are going on within it.
But yeah, you could probably get the first really cheap somewhere.

it looks amazing.

i'm not so sure how it can stay under the bioshock name with all the differences, but the story will most likely pertain to the story of bioshock 1 and 2.

regardless, i'm a fan.

Wow, haven't seen you here in a while...

In other news: I don't think this game will create the same creepy atmosphere that rapture did, so Im'ma be scepticle.

Looks awesome and sounds great. But like Ciaran said, it looks like it's making a turn for more action than creepy + action. But we'll see :L

Yeah, but maybe opening it up will be good for the action, and the room at the start with the fish tank and the new (or old, considering this is a prequel of sorts?) big daddy was pretty damn creepy.

I dunno, i just think the bright colours dont fit bioshock very well.

(and what type of stupid american themed logo is that anyway??)

also people saying about the name Bioshock, Bioshock just implies a different environment, not necessarily Rapture.

i see that now.

When we completed the original BioShock, we felt we had said all we wanted to say with Rapture, but we weren

A new Bioshock huh, i'm not sure what to think about it, I loved the first one, prolly my favorite game on the 360, the 2nd one was great too, but it didnt move me the way the first one did. And for those who havent played the first one they should really play it, it was something else.
