i love the iconic new horizons music, but while playing the game i don’t care for the background music that plays. New Leafs music is so much better. especially the nighttime and early morning music. what do you think?

i totally agree. new leaf’s music was actually *good*—i’d go back and listen to it outside of the game, and i figured out several of the songs on the piano. with new horizons, it’s just...tolerable. it doesn’t make me feel things. it’s just kinda there, and sometimes, i get annoyed by it. oh, well.

I like new leafs a lot better, but that may be because I've never been big on the tropical island vibe.

It may also grow on me though, I think New Leaf had my least favorite tracks when it first came out too, and now I love them all

new horizons music is so repetitive...when the music “changes” it has a similar beat or tune but it’s basically the same!!! :(

I like them both about the same. They both have different vibes which is fine since they're different games. Ultimately, I don't tend to like background music while playing so I don't see it being any different from NL to NH in terms of playing with the sound down low or off majority of the time. Seems even to me.

Personally I wish there was an option to turn down music and just have natural ambiance only.

For the most part, I wasn't the biggest fan of New Leaf's. They did have some nice songs here and there but I remember when I first bought it, I was thinking, "...is this really the music?" Especially 3pm, it sounded like it would've fit well with the Harvest Festival and it wasn't something I wanted to hear everyday.

New Horizon's music stuck with me from the start, but out of all the games I definitely prefer Wild World's soundtrack.

A lot of the NH music sounds similar to me due to the sound effects they used over the background tracks, but it's growing on me slowly now. I'm still not a huge fan, but I usually get pretty immersed in what I'm doing now so it's barely noticeable.

I really loved the music in NL and WW so for me, it's an adjustment since there was a much clearer differentiation between hours.

Honestly, it wasn’t until New Leaf had been out for several years that I began to like its music. And even then, it was mainly because of nostalgia. I imagine New Horizons’ music will get to that point eventually too. I just loved the Wild World music so much, and still do, so anything that’s too different won’t live up to that standard for me.

New leaf actually made me associate feelings with the music playing. NH hasn’t done that yet.

New Leaf by a million miles because NH's music just isn't relaxing and sometimes I get actively irritated by it. One time I was frustrated by terraforming and I actually got angry because the music was getting on my nerves so much in addition.

Some of the late night/early morning songs are actually pretty nice (3 AM theme do not interact), admittedly! I like the title theme too. But the ones I hear the most (unless I TT and change the time to one with nicer music, but then those are pretty much all hours when the shops aren't open), just aren't my style at all. Which is weird because I love the tropical island vibe of the game overall but something about most of the hourly music is just super grating to me??

NL's hourly songs however are very calming and chill and I love them, and I not only like going back and listening to them outside of the game, but sometimes I mute my tv and put on a playlist of them while playing NH--which is why I wish NH had an option to only mute certain sounds and not others so I could keep the ambient noises without the music while I play my own.

New Leaf because I prefer more melodic-sounding tracks than the more jazzy and loose-feel of New Horizons. I also don’t like that they all kinda overuse the synthesizers on some hourly tracks, and I’m surprised they didn’t use the steel drums from NL because they added a more tropical sound but whatevs.
