How many of you out there have more than one island? Did you end up buying a new switch so that you can do this? I am really struggling with limiting creativity to just one island, but finding the justification of buying a whole new console just for this purpose is very difficult for me as well. What are your thoughts? Part of me is hoping that if I wait long enough, Nintendo will answer all of our wishes by changing the save function to allow multiple islands on a console, but maybe that's wishful thinking on my part :cry: 💔

I'd love to have another island but I cannot justify spending that much money another Switch just for that sole reason. I'm thinking maybe if they release an updated or pro version of the Switch next year that's when I'll be able to justify buying another one :)

You do have to have an extra switch to have multiple islands. What I’m planning on doing is I’m going to get a switch lite and an extra copy of NH (the one we have right now is digital) so I can have my own SH island because I’m feeling a touch cramped in Arctin (plus, I commute an hour to my campus and often have long breaks so that would be a good way to pass time).

I did get a Switch Lite to do this. It’s definitely not for everyone! It’s kind of nice to switch back and forth though, keeps me more interested in the game.

Yeah it sucks only being able to have one island per switch. I really doubt they’ll ever allow us to have multiple islands as well since it’s obviously this way so people will buy more switches, which means more money for Nintendo.

I would love to have another island since I’m bored of my current one and it would take ages to strip things down and build them back up. Similar to what others have said, I can’t justify spending that much money to get a new switch and a new copy of the game simply to get a 2nd island

i currently only have one island but hoo boy am i considering investing in another switch and game but like everyone else, i can’t justify that cost and while it would be very neat to be able to build an island from scratch again, that’s way too much money that i’d be probably be smarter for investing in something else a little more necessary ;;

Might want to wait till after the pandemic, due to stocking problems they sell for $100+ more than they used to :(

I have two islands. My second island doesn't get played that much honestly. When I'm back to commuting and travelling for leisure again (the reason I bought the Lite) I'll likely play it more often.

I have one island, but I am in a similar position myself. I've been having thoughts of buying a new Switch but not for the purpose of having two islands. Currently, I own the Switch lite but having played Animal Crossing for some time now, I feel committed to upgrading to the bigger console solely for the ability to use both handheld and TV mode. However, with the issue of save data transfer right now, there would be no point in me buying a new Switch as I'd hate to lose all the hard work and hours put into my island so far and I'm not prepared to go out and spend extra money on another copy of the game. I hope this issue gets resolved soon by Nintendo, but after they quoted it being something that we will most likely see "later on in the year" in the July update, feels a little disappointing.

I think the only way I'd go in on another switch was if they re-released the special ACNH edition at some point. I'd love a second island I could do a cool theme with and time travel and stuff.

I really wish you could have multiple islands on one switch, though! I don't think they'll support that (they want you to spend more money on the game ugh) but that would be awesome!

my perhaps unwanted advice is there are other ways to express creativity! you can draw, dance, make music, write a story, etc. in animal crossing you could get into making QR codes! i think question whether you will really get that much fulfilment out of a second island compared to other things you could do, or whether you are just chasing the nostalgia of the first months excitement of the game.

I have one for my main island then another I used as a cycling island if I want to use the campsite method or mystery islands to go villager hunting, as well as whenever I want to farm seasonal DiYs and NPCs like Celeste, Gullivarrr, etc. It's been pretty convenient there than do everything in my main. I might give it a go for a second main island, but now is not yet that time.

I have two islands. I bought the ACNH switch to have one with a better battery life for when I play during my commute and kept my older switch. The island on the older switch is more complete (but I may redo it at some point), so I mainly play the ACNH switch.
