Ya, not talking about moving. Moving can rock. Depending on were you move.

Nope I am talking about Moving the 6 rocks on your island to were you want them to be. For ease of use or decoration.... or both. It's a lot of work. I am currently doing that. I am putting Mannequins all over my island to prevent movement. Such a chore.

So what are you doing or have done to your island that was a HUGE pain to do? I mean this is a pain but clearing the entire island or flattening it out is a lot of work. Or changing the rivers completely. Terra-forming is a lot of work. ;D

So, share what was your least favorite part of your islands design.

I did this! It took forever, and yes it was a pain. Definitely worth it though. Very convenient to have all my rocks in the same place.

Did you do it in a pattern or part of some kind of rock garden?

moving the rocks were a pain. painting the ground to dirt after planted thousands of flowers were a pain. trying to get my starter villager to move were a pain.

i dunno why i play this game.

Easy, you love the pain. ;P

I have over 100 flowers I need to do something with, so it's gonna be a pain to dig them all up. Planning on moving my rocks too, but not really looking forward to the process. Hopefully its worth it in the end~

What’s the best process to move the rocks? What do you all recommend? I’d love to do this....but I’m afraid haha.

I did a 20x20 square rainbow flower garden. The flowers change colors in layers leading to the center. 400 flowers I had to move and plant. I feel your pain. Moving flowers is a pain. Most of the flowers I had and I moved them from one part of my island to another, then to another. Before I finally came up with this design.

Good video to watch. This is how I am doing it.

cover every single tile you don't want a rock to spawn on with a path rocks can't spawn on (stone, brick, custom design, etc)

this includes tiles you wouldn't be able to reach normally. if it's an open space, stuff will spawn on it, if forced to choose that location

keep in mind though that you need a minimum of 3 open paths at all times, since the weeds spawn in for the day before the rocks. which means the last 2 rocks are still gonna be a bit rng-esque

Here's my advice when it comes to moving rocks:
If you aren't going to time travel (which I highly recommend you do), you need to be able to put up with an extremely cluttered island for at least a week, likely longer. Don't use paths to block rock spawns; you will have to go back and remove each one after you're done. It's best to use mannequins or furniture. Don't forget that rocks can spawn in the middle of flower beds and that they won't spawn behind cliffs or trees.
I would recommend breaking a rock, TTing one day forward, and seeing if it's in the right location. If not, destroy it and block off the location it spawned in with furniture or a mannequin. Repeat until done.

This works but is a pain to remove all that path. Use Mannequins. Watch the video and explains and clean up is easy. With one simple chance to the pattern on the mannequins, removes all mannequins with the old pattern off your island. Like 5 seconds and gone. ;P

Assuming you have 20 blocks (in reality you have 42, but 22 of those are mostly beach/water), each containing 256 tiles, you'd have to put down paths at least several hundred times up to several thousand times, depending on how filled in your island is. Then you have to go back and remove them when you're done. Definitely more trouble than just placing furniture/mannequins.

I'd beg to differ, here

I mean, yeah, you have to undo everything. but using mannequins/furniture you have to constantly go in and out of your nookphone/inventory, which can get grating really fast and be easy to trip up on if sidetracked. not to mention, needing to position yourself and all the items properly

while paths you only have to load up the designer app once, and can then just mindlessly place down while doing other things too

and as far as removing goes, that's far easier, as you can just choose the default "grass" path, and it'll just fully erase with no chances of wasting your time "curving" a tile

of course, to that end, taking all this into consideration, I feel rock placement should be one of the first things done

still hard disagree, and already gave my input as to why

it's more time consuming, yes. but furniture/mannequins require more focus. I'd honestly rather the less focused one, even if it takes longer (also, though this bit hardly matters, as both methods would be temporary, it just looks far nicer as well. which was another major point for me, as I don't ever tt)

I don't want to lay mindless paths.

It would have been nice to be able to dig them up like trees.

Mine can spawn wherever.
More natural that way.

Putting Mannequins all over is the best way, all the button presses just to put one down is a pain but clean up is so fast it makes it worth it.
Just wish i had a controller with a macro setting!

It didn‘t really take me long. And it’s awesome when you load the new day and see the rocks in place. I had two that didn’t come in immediately, but a little tweaking and boom.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the mannequin method... yeah, the clean up is easy but displaying the mannequin is a hassle. I did half mannequins and half fences and if I had to do it again I would do it all with fences, for me picking them up didn't feel like a chore, but I guess that depends on the person. I know that a lot of people prefer the mannequin method over the fences.
It took me a while to finally move all my rocks to where I wanted them, but it was definitely worth it!!

(Yes, I did what everyone else has done, but it looks so good)

I just dropped an ugly custom path everywhere when I did mine. I might have had to place more but it kept my island easy to navigate while I set up [which took a few days I didn't have patience to do it at once].
