More evidence of cooking?

Well, they did add dialogue about art, Brewster, etc to certain personalities, namely cranky villagers then literally the next update they added the museum expansion.

Would not surprise me if cooking was added in a summer update.

What exactly do you guys think cooking would entail if it is introduced? Is it just for fun/for gifting to villagers? The same as eating fruit? Something else entirely?

my villagers have been talking about cooking a bit, too - it seems that nintendo will add in dialogue during each big update to hint at the next big update so i wouldn’t be surprised if they did that with the nature day update to add in dialogue about cooking ;u;

Someone theorized that cooking certain food would allow you to get more than 1/10 like you do when you eat one fruit. Like eating a cake giving you 5/10 for landscaping, etc. But I agree, not sure what more purpose food can be given. Decoration, friendship building with villagers, for rp eating meals, who knows.

It would be fun if they introduced cooking. We already have eating and now a stomache, so adding more seems logical. Would be cool if we could get other buffs as well, like you cook something extra special and you can run faster for some time. Or extra strength that would make multiple branches fall out at once.

I suppose it could be something like in Pocket Camp where certain villagers/personalities favor certain dishes but also maybe cooking something could even be a villager request to boost friendship.
What I'm personally hoping for is more food items we could display in the game. The food items in PC are so beautiful and we got such a large variety added in Happy Home Designer (New Leaf had quite a few too) and in NH all we seem to have are cakes and the customizable frying pans. I NEED more stuff like pancakes, noodles, different pastries, etc.

That’s what I was wondering about! Or maybe something that would make it easier to catch fish or earn extra friendship with villagers.

If they do introduce it it might be why there isn’t any news about the next Nook’s upgrade yet. It stands to reason that they’d probably sell cooking supplies like eggs, flour, etc. but I guess we’ll see what happens.

I watched a youtube video that someone datamined there to be cooking in a future update. I can try and find it again and add it to this spoiler

found the video
the video does have more datamined (rumored) updates (around 12 of them) - so if you dont want anything to be spoiled consider this your warning

I thought they always say things like that, even in the past games.

But I had villagers saying things like that.

Yes, to be fair, the Normal villagers always talked about how much they love to cook, or sisterly villagers will get their cover blown on how delicious such and such dish is ^^

Cooking would be great but at this point I just want some food related decorations/furniture. My cafes are pretty much all mugs 😅

Maybe this will tie in with the references to farming that they found in the code? I’ve wanted cooking and vegetables in animal crossing since City folk so I would 1000% be on board with this

I watched the video. The Durability 3 tool is clearly the May Day Island axe, which is supposed to break after it chops down 1 tree.

Diana and Carmen are both walking around my town holding those cute chocolate donuts, which I pray come in an update with brewster & a bakery selection c:

I get that dialog all the time lately, especially in the afternoon-evening.

I think it would be really cool if it was implemented with the Museum Café & it could be like New Leaf & the coffee shop mini game! Not sure how it would exactly work lol, but I think it would be a cute little game.

Maybe they would implement some kind of bake-off event, if they introduced a cooking mechanic into the game.
