Sorry for this, but "they save trees" isn't a really good argument. Mechanical pencils are made from plastic and while they're not thrown away as much, they do more damage to the environment than regular pencils. Sure, some trees are saved but we can regrow those. What we can't regrow is petroleum, nor can we easily get rid of all the chemical waste that goes into producing plastic. Using mechanical pencils might save a couple of trees now (spoilers: it doesn't, since regular pencils are still made anyway), but if you look at the long-lasting effects mechanical pencils are much worse for the planet than regular.Mechanical pencils will always win. They save trees, and the only time I've ever really had to use normal pencils was for standardized tests![]()
