Mario Kart Wii beating expert staff ghosts

I'm not the fastest racer, can someone give me tips on beating expert ghost. For example on Lugie circut my top time is 1:23 and I need to get under 1:19. I think I do everythnig right by using the mushrooms, doing drifts and wheelies. But I can't seem to win. Can someone help me?

Use a bike and do wheelies on the straights. Then use a mushroom over the grass to get to the boost ramp and then go around all the boost pads before the finish line. It's pretty easy this one.
