I'm not going to link it or explain how to do it (I don't know how to anyways, just saw it trending on Twitter) but there's another dupe glitch out there :/
Don't buy Katanas or other 2x1 items right now, looks like people are mostly duping that item.

This sucks. I don't see why people would manipulate the game. It really ruins the fun for everyone who doesn't dupe stuff as well, because everything costs a lot more.

If you have a source explaining how the glitch works, you can forward it to Nintendo via their Support Call Line and they likely will fix it pretty quickly.

Oh, good idea! Thanks for letting me know!

Oh bruh... that sucks... I'm sorry to hear that... I can't stand people like that

i understand TT but i don't understand duping... like one is just people trying to play the game the way they like best and the other is people just being greedy to my understanding, like why bother doing it when you can make enough money by selling turnips?? or catching rare bugs and fish? like just playing the game how it's supposed to be played? sure, you can argue that TT wasn't intended, but it isn't deliberately exploiting glitches for the sole reason of getting more bells

It sucks, but I wouldn't feel too bad. In the end, you're getting the Bells you'd probably sell it for anyways. Its just the source is a bit bleh. Don't let it bother you.

yeah, i'm not upset so much as i am annoyed if that makes sense? like, they very specifically offered the katanas first, and prior to that they asked if we could do a trade. had i known about the glitch, i might've still did it?

I would also caution people against using this specific dupe glitch. There are reports of objects getting stuck, areas of your house becoming glitched, and save file corruption.

Unlike the last one that appeared within the first week, it isn't work risk losing 6 weeks of progress trying to dupe katanas and TVs.

Wow, save file corruption?? I wonder how that even happens o-o

well, it is a glitch. i imagine that abusing it can cause data to become corrupted, such as furniture data (items becoming stuck) or, in severe cases of abuse, save file corruption. needless to say, you shouldnt abuse this dupe glitch lol

Cheaters gonna cheat. Duplicating items really does ruin the game, so I don't get it. Although it's not my business how other people play. I just personally found that whenever I messed with my ACNL town with stuff like this, it really ruined the game for me and I got bored with it really fast. And I've found myself having so much fun with New Horizons even though I've been playing it non-stop since release, going at my own pace. I've avoided trading items online other than on this forum and reddit where I think most people play normally and without cheating (obvs there are some but they usually stick out like a sore thumb and I avoid them). Hopefully they patch it soon.

Considering they patched the first dupe glitch pretty quickly, I'm sure we'll get that patch soon

I was wondering how people all over discord were selling an inventory full of katana’s and the like. I assumed that they did hack it in but didn’t knew it was a duping glitch. The asking price for it was ridiculous too 50+ nmt. In fact, a lot of the guilliver items price range are so high.

It always depends on the nature of the glitch/bug. This one is similar to the first, but appears to not be as stable, causing a higher frequency of stuck objects, which then lead to loading problems, which lead to corrupted saves.

The lengths people are willing to go to have an advantage in this game... TT, duping, scamming...

It only makes me feel less interested in playing with others.

It's starting to remind me of FIFA, and how people would do anything to win (or at least to avoid losing), from forcing disconnections to abuse glitches... The only difference is that AC isn't a competitive game (which still doesn't validate any of these "methods" in competitive games), and it makes a lot less sense in a game like this.

Sometimes I think this is just a psychological problem. People need to feel (and prove to themselves) they're smarter than others, and to feed their egos, they cheat and scam other players in games because that's something they can do without being punished (most of the time, they won't receive any kind of punishment, or even if they do, it's often a laughable slap on the wrist).

I can't help but to remember that thing about Sekiro that became a meme ("You cheated not only the game, but yourself"), and how it is true even if people try to downplay it (cheaters gonna cheat and they hate being called out for that).

I have to agree with @Raz that it seems like people do things like this just because they can, because it makes them feel superior in some way or they think it’s fun. It doesn’t seem worth it for any other reason, seeing as how you can get basically infinite bells by time traveling to sell turnips at a high price. Whether that’s an intended mechanic or not (more likely not), it’s not a glitch that will destroy your game...

the turnip time travel is still cheating imo but more people seem to consider it fair game...and if they don’t use it to take advantage of others, not really my business how you play

regardless, thanks for the psa. Was just starting to let me guard down, good thing to be on the lookout for.

I just watched how it's done and what a weird glitch. The duper literally said "I'm using the LCD TVs because they're worth a lot"..

Nice. We love people like that! (lots of sarcasm here)

I wish Nintendo had an email I could just use to report bugs/glitches/hacking. Unfortunately, I can't call now since it's closed.

Hard disagree with you, time-traveling is not compatible to exploiting glitches and stealing from others.
It's still cheating, like it or not. It's an artificial way to manipulate events inside the game. It's similar to using action replay/gameshark. The fact that the majority of the community doesn't see it as cheating doesn't change the fact that it is, by definition, a way to cheat the game.

Also, there's people who use TT to get good turnip prices AND use that to scam other players. Others will use TT to speed up the hybrids generation and flood the economy that many people care about (I don't, I hate in-game economy). It can be as harmful or inoffensive as duping; it just depends on the person who is doing that.

Some will dupe because they like to test things (we had an user who bought a glitched item with real money just to test things), others will do that to have more than one of a unique item, and some will use it to scam people.

I the end, cheating is cheating.
